Today is the release of the SSS April 2025 Card Kit which is called Butterfly Blossoms. There is a 6x8" stamp set in the kit also called Butterfly Blossoms stamp set. As usual, there is an add-on set of Butterfly Blossoms Dies that are NOT in the kit, but can be purchased separately and they come with a free set of Butterfly Blossoms stencils. There is also a set of Butterfly Blossoms stencils in the kit if you prefer to ink your stamped images instead of coloring them. Here is an image of the full kit:
Here are my three cards:
I had never seen the Tim Holtz Serendipity tissue paper pieces before and I was quite intrigued! I wasn't sure how to use them, so I played around and loved the results! I colored this one which was my favorite with Copic Markers. They go on lighter than they color on cardstock, but they cover really well - I just used darker colors. I then cut around the edges which doesn't have to be perfect as they won't show!
I cut a piece of the Bees and Butterflies patterned paper to be the size of a card front and I attached the tissue paper flowers with the Matte Glue included in the kit. I rubbed a very liberal layer over the paper and then laid the tissue over it and then covered it with more of the glue. I used my finger to apply it and rubbed it around the design as it moved some of the color to the paper which I liked - you can see little bits of the pink on the patterned paper. I stamped a sentiment with Watermelon PSInk and cut around it. I attached that to the top right of the card. I was going to add a butterfly to it, but I just wanted to keep it simple. I loved how the paper showed through the flowers making them look yellow and pink! I added some green pearls around it.
I attached another piece of the Tim Holtz Serendipity tissue papers to a piece of white cardstock using a full sized piece of adhesive. I didn't attach it perfectly and you can't move it once it's touched the adhesive, so I had a few wrinkles in it which kind of added to the look. Because it was attached to white cardstock, I was able to color it with both Copics and Tim Holtz Watercolor Pencils. I used them like crayons and didn't add water. They were perfect for adding deep color without tearing the tissue paper. The best accident that happened was one of my Copics that I had just filled leaked all over in my green areas. You can see it in the top left. I tried to get the color off with an alcohol wipe. It picked up some of the color from the watercolor pencils, so I dabbed it over all of the background areas to add some green to them. The watercolor pencils
I stamped Missing You with black ink on a piece of the pattered paper and attached it with the Matte Adhesive. I rubbed the matte adhesive over the top of all of the card front including the greeting, so it moved some of the colors over the greeting which I also liked! It left a nice coating over the sheer paper that looks really good. Love that adhesive. I attached it to a light pink card base and then added some Pink Fresh Glitter Drops around the sentiment.
I wanted to use ALL of the Simple Stories washi tapes in the kit, so I layered them over a piece of white cardstock and then die-cut it to fit on a white card base. It looked better against a cream card base, but I had already colored the flower stamp from the Butterfly Blossoms stamp set on white cardstock, so I had to stick to white for the background.
I stamped a sentiment with black ink, the flowers, and a butterfly from the stamp set using black ink. I colored the images in with colored pencils. I fussy cut around them as I didn't have the matching dies. I used foam tape beneath the top of the flowers and the butterfly. Last I added a few sequins from the Conversation Hearts Embellishment Mix.
This Butterfly Blossoms kit is so cute and I didn't get to use the stamp set as much as I wanted to! It is so pretty and I love that you can purchase a set of stencils to go with it. Thanks for visiting today! Don't forget that you can subscribe to the SSS Card Kits anytime HERE and it saves you money! Suzy
