Today is the release of the much anticipated Simon Says Stamp Limited Edition Home For the Holidays Card Kit. Every year they come out with a special limited edition card kit for the holidays and this one is filled with soooo much holiday goodness! Here is an image of the kit:
The kit includes a Home For the Holidays 6x8" stamp set, a Layered Rosette stencil set (4 stencils), a Layered Rosette Die, Ho Ho Hello Die Set, and a Festive Snowman Die which are all exclusive SSS products for this kit, but can also be purchased separately. There is also a set of matching Home For the Holidays dies to match the stamp set in the kit. You can purchase just the stamp and die Home For the Holidays bundle if you want the stamp, but not the full kit.
Here are my 3 cards:
I used the Rainbow Splash Swiss Dots embossing folder in the kit for the background of this card. I use that embossing folder all the time! I love the simplicity of it, but it still adds just a little touch of texture and design. I stamped the images from the Home For the Holidays stamp set with Versamark Ink. I colored them in with colored pencils. I used the matching dies to die-cut all of them out.
I attached three of the banner stickers in the Tim Holtz Ideology Holiday Sticker book in the kit to the bottom of the card front and stapled them on the right side. I stamped the Joy sentiment and the other sentiment on a Honeybee Banner Die. I arranged all of the stamped images over the background and the two sentiments. I made the snowman cover the word Joy on the banner. I used a white Uniball and Chalk Stick Nuvo drops over some of the snow. Last, I tie a bow using the SSS Silver and White Bakers Twine.
This card is pure crazy town. Not sure how this happened the way it did. I wanted to throw in away so many times, but I have a rule of always finding a way to save a card, so I did. I started by embossing some of the stamps (the ornaments and stocking) in a "random stamping" method I often use on a piece of Arches WC paper with Antique Gold embossing powder. I used teh small stars in-between the other stamps. I then painted it with Karin Brushmarkers. The background was more of a blue-red and I didn't like it at all. So to save it, I painted over the red with Catherine Wheel Nuvo Shimmer Powder and it was more acceptable!
I splattered it with a bunch of gold paint. I die-cut it with an A2 Thin Frame Die and attached it to a piece of Gold Matte Cardstock. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on the same watercolor paper with Antique Gold embossing powder and popped it up on the bottom of the card. I tied a bow with gold twine around the top of the card. I think it is acceptable now, but not my favorite by a long shot!
I love this card because it uses so many of the fun elements in the kit. I started with the red plaid patterned paper (from the Simple Stories Holly Jolly paper in the kit) as my background. I attached a piece of the Tim Holtz green glitter paper on the top at an angle. I NEVER use angles on card elements as I'm left brained and everything needs to line up perfectly. Not only is it at an angle, it is over plaid paper that makes the angle even more noticeable. I was trying to see how much my brain could handle on this one hahaha. I ended up angling all of the elements! I attached one of the bits and pieces to the top of the green glitter paper (cut this off the top of one of the pieces).
I used another one of the Holly Jolly bits and pieces behind the Ho Ho Hello Die which I die-cut out of red glitter cardstock. I die-cut the snowman die out of the white velvet paper in the it and the bow out of red glitter cardstock and the hat out of black glitter cardstock. I attached all of the pieces and glued him to the right side of the sentiment. I layered one of the border stickers on the bottom and used another sticker from the TH sticker book for a second sentiment. I added a few Cherry PD Gems to the right side of the green cardstock. I tied a bow around the left side with black/white twine. I don't now WHY I used a bow on all three cards. Once I started, the others just didn't feel done until they had a bow too!
This SSS Limited Edition 2024 Holiday Card Kit called Home For the Holidays is so cute and full of so many products. I personally love working with kits as it gives me a select number of products to work with and challenges me to only use them. Kit cards are so much fun to make! I will definitely be using some of these stamps and dies for other holiday cards and tags! Thanks for visiting today! Suzy
