I cannot believe it took me this long to use the Poinsettia Swag Stamp and Die Bundle from the SSS Festive Fun release! Maybe because I promised not to use poinsettia's on my cards for a while? Well, guess what? Confession time. I broke my promise. I think I broke it twice now, so let's just throw that promise in the trash and start fresh! I love this set - here is an image:
You can buy just the Poinsettia Swag stamp set if you don't want to spend the extra on the Poinsettia Swag dies. I don't think they are necessarily needed. This set lends itself really well to a one layer card. BUT, the bundle is on sale right now down from $35.97 to $29.97!!! That is actually a really good buy for a stamp and die bundle and the dies have all of the sentiments which I always love. Here is my card:
I stamped the floral grouping twice with Versafine black ink. I then colored it first with Copic Markers, then added some shading and texture with colored pencils, then went back with a Dark Red Copic to add extra shading and blended that out with a pink Copic Marker. THEN, I went back over the petals with a white Prismacolor pencil to lighten some areas. I added some white spikes/dots in the centers with a white Uniball and then I colored over it with a pink Copic so it doesn't stand out as much as white would. I tell ya, using Copics and pencils together is my new favorite coloring method!
I die-cut both out with the matching dies. I stamped a sentiment with Versamark Ink from the stamp set and die-cut it out with the matching dies. Then it was time to figure out the background. I never love just plain white. I could have used white with some ink blending in the center. But I decided to use an embossed image so it would have some subtle design and texture. I pulled out some of mine from previous years and found this one called the Delicate Pink Branches. I attached the two poinsettia swags to each side of the card front and added the sentiment in the center with foam tape strips behind it. I added a few sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment.
Ahhh it felt so good to color some poinsettia's again - it had been days! I love this very basic Poinsettia Swag stamp set with the gorgeous floral cluster and beautiful sentiments. I'm still working my way through the Festive Fun release trying to finish it before the next release hits! Christmas cards are always my favorite ones to make so I'm having fun over here. But Thanksgiving? So not in that mood haha! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
