Today I made ... a Christmas card again! I love that we make holiday cards a couple months before the holiday season as it always gets me in the mood and ready to start all the work! I used a new product from the Sweet Wishes release called the Vintage Holiday Swag stamp and die bundle. I also used the Big Holiday Words stamp and die bundle and the Poinsettia Sprays embossing folder from the STAMPtember release. Here is an image of the Vintage Holiday Swag bundle:
Here is my card:
I stamped the swag design from the Vintage Holiday Swag stamp set with the new SSS Versafine black ink I so love on white cardstock. I colored it with Copics and colored pencils. I used the Copics for the large flower and colored pencils for everything else. The pine needles were almost all black since they are so small, so colored pencils covered the black and give you that fine tip for small areas. I thought my poinsettia was too dark without any contrast, so I used a white Prismacolor to color inside each petal to add some lighter shades. You can always fix colored pencils with Copics over them and always fix Copics with colored pencils over them. Peanut Butter and Jelly I tell ya! I used a gold uniball in the center of the flower. I die-cut it out with the matching die.
I embossed the Poinsettia Sprays embossing folder with white cardstock. I didn't want a plain white background which is why I die-cut the design out. But I liked it against white, so I went with this embossing folder since it had a similar look/feel. It's hard to see all the detail on it in the photo, but it looks really pretty in real life. I added two frames in black and gold using the A2 Nesting Frame Dies. I've mentioned this before, but I wish I hadn't cut mine apart as you can make twice as many all the same size by not cutting them. I did, so I have to try and position them perfectly to get two that are going to be right next to each other like this. I glued them against the embossing folder. I attached the swag stamped image over the background with foam tape behind it. I added a sentiment using the Big Holiday Words stamp and die set and black ink. Doe you see how dark this ink is? This is ONE coat - I used to have to stamp things up to 3 times to get them solid black. Love this ink so much. I added three red pearls around the sentiment.
I loved combining the Vintage Holiday Swag stamp and die bundle with two great products from the STAMPtember release I hadn't gotten a chance to use yet. The Big Holiday Words stamp and die bundle sold out so fast when it was released, but it is back in stock now. Thanks for visiting! Suzy
