Ok, let's start with this: I blew myself away on my projects today. I went WAY out of my usual boring box. I impressed myself. I dusted off the sewing machine. Now that I'm done bragging, let's get to business.
Today's SSS STAMPtember collaboration is with Brutus Monroe. The stamp set is a 6x8 and is called Holiday Mugs. It is sold alone or with a set of matching dies. I don't like scary things, so I used two of the mugs and ignored the one that was starting at me with scary eyes haha. Here is an image of the set sold as a bundle:
And here are my VERY IMPRESSIVE projects!!!
I started with no idea of what I was going to do like usual. I stamped the images I wanted to use from the Holiday Mugs stamp set (all but the scary one!) on white cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I colored them all in with Copic Markers. I used a white Uniball for lines on the pumpkin/leaves. I fussy cut all of the images out (fun times!). Then the magic happened!
I used to sew a lot - I made all my clothes in high school. I gave it up through the years and only used my sewing machine on scrapbooking pages for years. I haven't really used it much for cards. It was dusty in a corner. I got this idea that it would be fun to make tags out of fabric and trims for these cute images. I pulled out my fabric bin and lace/trim jars and choose some colors that went with my images. I even had to iron - another dusty thing in the corner! I die-cut a CZ Nested Tag Die out of white cardstock. i then sewed the orange fabric to the tag. I sewed three trims to the bottom of the tag. Then I tied the orange twine around my messy stitching. I attached all of the stamped images to the tag with foam tape. I also stamped a sentiment from the stamp set and attached that. Then I tied some trims in the top of the tag. Bam - loved it!
As much as I loved the last one, this little reindeer has my heart - I adore this one. I won't ever give it away! I started with a CZ Nested Tag Die again. Any pre-made tag would work as well. I stitched fabric to the front of it and then sewed a trim to the bottom. I tied a bow with some red ribbon over the trim. I then attached all of the stamped images including a sentiment from the stamp set with foam tape. I forgot to add Nuvo Drops to the reindeer nose, so I did that after I photographed this! I used a few of the candy canes and just glued the bottoms so they are free flowing. I tied a ribbon and a torn piece of fabric in the top of the tag.
Did I impress anyone out there as much as I impressed myself? Does anyone else have a dusty sewing machine just begging to be picked up and remembered? Or an ironing board in the corner? I might just have to dig in my fabric and trims more often as I love the look of these homemade bulky tags. And don't ask for one as I will never part with them haha. This Brutus Monroe Holiday Mugs stamp set is just darling and it is sold alone or with a set of matching dies. This one is going to sell out fast - I'm warning you. Especially if anyone sees my tags (hahahaha). You can see all of the STAMPtember collabs that are left still here. Thanks for visiting and tolerating my balloon sized head for the day! It will be back to normal tomorrow - promise. Suzy
I love your coloring on your adorable reindeer mug!!! You should make a video as i would love to learn how to color like you. Can i ask what colors you used to color the cute reindeer?
