I made a card today with some products I have been wanting to use for some time that are NOT from the new Cheering For You release! My card uses the Lily of the Valley Stem Die from the Sunny Days release and the Lily of the Valley Arch Embossing Folder from the Be Bold release. Here are images of both products:
In my humble opinion, these two products are just MADE to go together (as I will show you). Here is my card:
I embossed the Lily of the Valley Arch embossing folder two times with white cardstock. I die-cut the Lily of the Valley Stem Die two times from white cardstock as well. I always do doubles of everything just in case and in this case, I used all of them! I started by coloring one of the embossing folders with Copic Markers. I used colored pencils for just the shading on the leaves and the flowers. I then took a fine tip Sharpie and outlined the images and because they are raised, this is surprisingly easy to do. In some of the smallest areas, I had to use a fine tip black marker instead. Once the edges were all colored, I used a Black Copic Marker to fill in all of the areas. It's nice to color the background black as when I colored the leaves, I didn't need to stay in the lines - I colored all over the place knowing the black would cover it. I find it fun to color backgrounds black instead of using ink which scares me too much after all my coloring!
I colored the two die-cut stems and stand-alone leaves with the same Copics and pencils. I then cut out a few of the small lily of the valley flowers from the second embossing folder and added some gray shading to them as well. I glued them to the stems instead of using the flowers that are in that die so they would match the ones on the embossing folder. I then glued just the bottom of the two stems to the bottom of the leaves positioning them so the flowers went up to the top of my card front. I then glued the two leaves over the stems to hide the bottom with foam tape on the top of each leaf. I used the CZ Bad Day, Good Vibes stamp and die set for my sentiment which is also from the Sunny Vibes release. I stamped my greeting with black ink on white cardstock and cut it out with the matching die. I then attached it to the bottom of the leaves with foam tape behind it. I added some Starshine embellishment mix around the background. I also used the bottom of my paintbrush to add some acrylic white paint to the background around the leaves. I could have splattered, but that makes me nervous too haha.
I love how these two products went together! The Lily of the Valley Arch embossing folder is so pretty, but using the Lily of the Valley Stem dies just made the entire thing more full and dimensional which i liked. I hope you enjoyed this card and see you back tomorrow with more Cheering For You! Suzy
