Ok, let me start by saying the card I made today is TOTALLY out of my comfort zone. I tried something new. I went all mixed media on myself. And I'm not sure I like it, but I'll let you decide. I used several products from the SSS Cheering For You release including the Tim Holtz Embroidery Stamp set with the new SSS matching dies. I also used the Old Letter stamp Set and the Rolling Waves Embossing Folder. Here is an image of the TH Embroidery stamp and die bundle:
Here is my card:
I first stamped two of the daisy sprigs from the Tim Holtz Embroidery stamp set with black ink on white cardstock. I colored them in with Copic Markers first and then added some shading with colored pencils. I die-cut them out with the matching dies. Then I went bat shizz crazy... I pulled out my backgrounds and didn't see anything that made me happy. So I made my own! I used a piece of the 49 and Market Artoptions Rouge 6x8 paper pad - the papers in it are really thick like cardstock. I used a piece with corals and greens on it and stamped the new Old Letter stamp set in the left hand corner with Punch PSInk. I then embossed it with the Rolling Waves Embossing Folder. I sprayed it with Tim Holtz Distress Spritz sprays using Fossilized Amber on most of it and Peeled Paint and Twisted Citron on the green corner. I then rubbed some TH Distress Texture Paste over areas of it. At this point it was really mis-shaped and I wasn't sure how it would lay flat!
Once the paper was completely dry, I applied wet glue to the entire back of it and attached it to a white card base. I used a brayer to flatten it as it dried. I sprayed my two daisy sprigs with more of the Fossilized Amber Distress Spritz spray so they matched the background better. I was really surprised at how much I liked the Distress Spritz spray over a colored stamped image! It just made it look aged! I blued just the stems of the two sprigs to the front of the card cutting off the bottom portions. I stamped a sentiment using the Sunshine and Smiles stamp set with the same Punch Ink and die-cut it out with the matching Sunshine and Smiles dies. I then very lightly sprayed it with the Fossilized Amber Spritz Spray as well. I attached it to the top left side of the card with foam tape beneath it.
I feel like my photographs don't do this card justice as it is so sparkly and full of texture. But then again, I'm not sure I like it since it is so outside my usual style. I will say it was super fun to make though. I'll have to dive into this mixed media background stuff more often! I hope you enjoyed this card using lots of products from the SSS Cheering For You release! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
