Today I have a card to share with you using another product from the SSS Sunny Vibes release called the Wild Blossoms Embossing Folder and Cutting Die. I also used the new Wonky Chevron Stencil and the Sunshine and Smiles stamp and die bundle. Here is an image of the embossing folder:
And here is my card:
I used a new technique I have never tried before with an embossing folder, so stick with my directions on this one as I know I can be wordy! I started by embossing the Wild Blossom EF with white cardstock. I die-cut two of the white flowers that are in the cutting die with the folder. I then embossed them one at a time. I colored one of the flowers and the leaves on the background with Copic Markers. I left one of the flowers white. I used a sharp colored pencil on the indentations on the leaves and the flowers.
I then attached the embossing folder background with the colored leaves inside my Misti with a Waffle Flower craft mat that holds things in place and makes inking/stencil work so much easier! I attached the Wonky Chevron Stencil over it. I used a small foam applicator to rub ink over the stencil using green on the bottom, yellow in the middle, and peach on the top. The little foam applicator allowed me to push the ink down into all the areas around the embossed leaves. I wasn't worried about getting green ink on the leaves, but I did avoid them when possible. I then attached the white flower over the embossed flower that now had a chevron pattern on it! I attached the colored one slightly above it so all of the flower areas were covered. I tried just using the colored one and you could see some of the inking around it, so it looked better with two layered. I stamped a sentiment using the Sunshine and Smiles stamp set and Grapefruit PSInk and die-cut it out with the matching die. I attached the card front to a white card base and then the sentiment to the bottom with foam tape behind it. I added three sparkling clear sequins.
I really l like how this technique worked of using a stencil behind an embossed image. You just have to do it with either an embossing folder and cutting die, or you would have to cut out portions of the embossed image to use as masks. My way with this Wild Blossom Embossing Folder and Cutting Die was definitely the easier of those methods! Thanks for visiting today and I hope you all had a wonderful fourth of July! Suzy
