Today I colored sunflowers! They make me happy. I don't have any in my yard, but I do have lots of daisies. I used the Simon Says Stamp Sunflower Background stamp from a few years ago. I love revisiting my favorite floral stamps that are still sold. Here is an image of it:
I did what I usually do and mixed my older stamp with a newer stamp for the sentiment called Pretty Petals from the Be Bold Release. Here is my card:
I stamped the full Sunflower Background stamp on white cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I colored it in with Copic Markers and thought about stopping there. But I just needed a little more shading which led to spending way too much time on the centers and kind of darkening them too much. I used Luminance pencils as they have the best browns/dark yellows. I used a dark brown around all the spots on the flower centers and a light yellow on the center of each spot. Then I went over them with a black fine tip marker to make sure they were outlined again. This basically took me all day. Next time I'll stop at Copics hahaha. But I do like how the petals turned out.
I die-cut it with the A2 Thin Frame Die and mounted it on a white card base. I used the Pretty Petals stamp set for the sentiment stamping it on a SSS Sentiment Label Die with Intense Black Ink. I attached that to the bottom edge. I used some Concord & 9th Dew Drops around the sentiment.
Just a basic card with lots of coloring on a hot summer day for you today. I still love this Sunflower Background stamp even after all these years. It's fun to pull older stamps out and use them again and I love that that way I get more use out of the price I paid for them originally. Never too old is my theory (especially about myself)! Thanks for visiting today.
WOW!!! All the detail you achieved is fabulous!! I'm glad you didn't stop at Copics 😊
