There was an embossing folder in the Simon Says Stamp June, 2024 Card Kit called the Winslow Medallions Embossing Folder. I didn't get a chance to use it on the three cards I made with the kit, so I used it on another card I have to share with you today. Here is an image of it:
Here is my card:
I first made the background using the Winslow Medallions Embossing Folder with no idea what I was going to do with it! I wanted to try the technique I keep seeing other designers use it and I wanted to try it out (so this is NOT my idea - I'm borrowing it from others!). I first embossed it with white cardstock. I then used a Tim Holtz Tiny Foam Applicator (those things are the bomb!) to apply ink to it on the indented areas. I used Carnation in the larger floral looking areas and I used Seafoam/Surf in the smaller spots - it was hard to get ink into the small dots around the teal areas, so they look white. I then rubbed a black ink pad over it which attaches only to the flat top area and you end up with the color in all the indented areas. How very cool - love this technique and want to try it on an embossing folder that has more florals on it.
I then stamped a flower image I had from the Gina K. Designs Glorious Goldfinches stamp set with Intense Black Ink and colored it with colored pencils. I cut it out, but there is a set of matching dies. I attached it to the bottom of the card with foam tape behind it. I then rubbed the same colors of ink over two scraps of white card stock and die-cut the Scripty Hugs die from both. I attached the pink ink letters over the teal background. I attached several together so it had depth and attached it to the top of the card. I used another sentiment from the Flower Power stamp set and die-cut it out with the matching dies. I attached it below the Hugs die. I added some pearls around the sentiment from Lucy's Little Party Girl Shaker Mix and Unicorn Sparkly Shaker Selection.
I hope you enjoyed this colorful card that isn't something I would normally make. I mean the flower, yes! But the black background using the Winslow Medallions Embossing Folder is not my usual, but I love it! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
I LOVE THIS!!!
