I'm taking it back a few years today! I was so happy to see this stamp set was still available at Simon Says Stamp as it was one of my all time favorites. My favorite flower is a tulip, so it makes sense that I would love this Mother's Day Tulips stamp set. I know I made at least one card with it back in the day, but I can't find any blog posts using it. It came out in 2020 - does anyone have it or remember it? Here is an image and there is a set of matching Mother's Day Tulips dies which I did not have for my card.
Here is my card:
I stamped the tulip stamp on a piece of A2 sized white cardstock using Latte PS Ink which is perfect for no line coloring. I first colored them in with four colors of pink and three colors of green Copic Markers. I like laying a base coat with markers and then adding shading and texture with colored pencils. I'm able to get better shading this way and you get the best of both markers and pencils! I really like showing pencil lines on tulips to make them look more realistic. I used a white gel pen over the white areas to add highlights. I cut around them when I was done as I didn't have the matching dies. Because I cut off the bottom of the stamp when I stamped it, the flower on the left wasn't attached to the others.
I made the background with the Whirl Diamond Plate Die from the Sweetheart release. I love the look of a textured white on white background and this die gives you just that when glued down to a white card base. I attached my cut out tulips to the bottom and right edge using glue on the bottom and foam tape under teh flowers. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set using Tim Holtz pink embossing powder and cut around it. I used foam tape behind it as well and placed it on the top left. I used some of the Candy Hearts sequins around the flowers and also added some Gina K. 3 mm sparkling sequins around the background and on the flowers.
Have aI mentioned lately that I love coloring flowers? These tulips were so fun to do and only took about an hour! Now I have the perfect card for my mother for Mother's Day. This Mother's Day Tulips stamp set may be a little old, but it is still very relevant for this important holiday and is a gorgeous set with lots of sentiments! Thanks for visiting today. I plan on having a week of floral cards next week, so come back and visit daily! I've pulled out lots of older stamps to use again and I can't wait to do more floral coloring! Suzy
