It's a week of flowers over here and I picked out one of my favorite stamp illustrators for the stamp set I used today. This one is by Emily Midgett called the Celebrate Rose Corner Stamp Set. There is also a die that is sold with it or alone. Here is an image of the bundle:
Here is my card:
I stamped the floral grouping from the Celebrate Rose Corner stamp set with Latte Pawsitively Saturated Ink. This ink is so good for no-line coloring! I then colored the flowers first with Copic Markers. I usually use a light, two mediums, and one dark and shade them. Then I go over it all with the lightest again to blend. Next, I use colored pencils to outline, shade, add lines for texture, etc... Now that I have started using Copics and Pencils together I can't stop as they give me the best of both worlds. Just Copics don't give you an outline and I can't always get fine enough lines to satisfy my shading and texture desires. Then just pencils looks too grainy and it's hard to get the whites I want unless I use a waxy white over everything to blend it. Also sometimes I can't get a dark as dark as I want it. The great thing about using them together is you can go either direction. If you start with Copics and then do pencils, you can go back and use copics over pencils and it blends it somehow and you can add more shading. I just go back and forth and back and forth haha. This one took a few hours to color. I used a really fine tip black Micron after I finished as I just wanted that little bit of outline. I can never decide up front how I will like it! I also used a white Uniball over the edges which is kind of obvious - I should have blended it better with a pencil.
I used the matching die to die cut it out and I cut off some of the stamped image because it was too big. I just used a white uniball over the edges to cover the Latte ink. I made the background with the Rainbow Splash Swiss Dot embossing folder and the A2 Thin Frame Die attached to a reddish/pink cardstock card base. I attached the flowers which hang over the edges (uh oh!) with foam tape behind them. I stamped a sentiment using the Gina K. Designs Poppies and Peonies stamp set - I just love this fancy font. I stamped it with black cardstock and then cut around the edges. I also used foam tape under this. I added some Moonshine Sparkling clear Sequins around the background and on some flowers.
Once I had the flowers colored, I finished the card in about 10 mins. So if you like to color like I do, this Celebrate Rose Corner Stamp Set is a perfect floral set to color. Now I'm off to color another one of Emily's gorgeous designs. See you tomorrow night when the SSS May card kit will be released (9:00 pm pst). Suzy
