Today I made a card using the SSS Beautiful Bouquet stamp set from 2021. I can't believe it's been that long since Emily Midgett started illustrating stamps for Simon. I'm taking it back to some of her first ones as they were my favorites! Here is an image of the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set:
Here is my card.
I stamped the floral stamp image with Latte Pawsitively Saturated Ink on white cardstock. I then colored it in with colored pencils. I used almost primarily colored pencils. After I was done, I used some Copic Markers OVER the colored pencils as I wanted some darker shading than pencils had given me. So I used really dark Copics over the pencils and it worked really well. When you use them over pencils, they stay wet and you can move the color around really well. It's kind of a cool effect. Over the waxiness of the pencils, you can really move the color around how you want it. I colored over almost all of the pencils with light Copics as I feel like it smoothes them out.
I cut around the flowers as there isn't a die. I created a 5x7" card with white cardstock. I then tried all kinds of colors behind the flowers, but nothing was working. I ended up cutting a piece of Pawsitively Velvet paper in white to be a little smaller than the white cardstock. It gave me a little bit of texture on the background. I cut one of the eucalyptus leaves off the bottom of the flowers so they would fit on the front and I glued them to the background. I glued that piece to the top right so it fit around the sentiment. For the sentiment, I stamped Happy Birthday using the Celestial Wishes! stamp set that came with the Celestial Wishes! card kit (can be purchased separately as well). I love this big font. I used Violet PSInk. Again, I tried like 4 different colors as I'm the worse decision maker ever. Then I try million different colors of sequins. I ended up using sparkling clear sequins as well as some purple ones from the Peony mix.
I really loved coloring this Beautiful Bouquet stamp set. I think it is just so beautiful! I did wish that my hydrangea was more blue and lighter, but once I went so dark on those, I ended up having to go very dark on all the other flowers. It ended up as quite a bright bouquet. My mom will love this one to brighten her 91 year old dark days. Thanks to all that stop by!!! Suzy
