Today I have a card to share using ANOTHER Embossing Folder by Simon Says Stamp because I love coloring them SO much! It is called the Free Falling Floral Embossing Folder and was part of the Season of Wonder release in 2023. Here is an image:
Here is my card:
I might have colored a lot of embossing folders, but I've never watercolored one before. I was very nervous about how it would turn out and thought I was going to throw it away half way through. I embossed a piece of Arches Watercolor Paper with the Free Falling Floral embossing folder. And it worked! I first used a fine tip black marker to go over the center of teh flowers. Although it was easy to trace over the raised lines, it didn't matter if you followed them or not as you could add as many as you wanted. I painted it with Karin Brushmarkers. I used only 4 colors. I touched my wet brush to the marker tips to apply the paint to the paper. I used a wet brush to move it around. I added a couple layers of color after it dried. I wet the background and added some paint in the same colors as if you are seeing flowers and leaves blurry behind the images.
I flicked some of the magenta color and the olive green over it. I then used the fine tip black marker to add some little black dots. I was too scared to flick black paint on it! I die-cut it with the SSS A2 Thin Frame Die and mounted it on a black card base.I die-cut an older SSS Sentiment Strip with the SSS Sentiment Label Dies and cut off the end. I butted it up against the edge of the painting. I added three sparkling clear sequins.
Although it was fun trying a different coloring medium on an embossing folder, I still prefer using Copics on them. I struggled a bit with how this one was turning out. I don't like it as much as some of my Copic colored ones. But I do love this Free Falling Floral Embossing Folder! You can see all of the SSS Embossing Folders HERE and there are LOTS of florals which is why I color them so often. I've never done one twice! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
