I'm taking it back to another product that was release in the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember 2023 release today! When I have time between new releases, I love going back and using products I never had a chance to use from previous releases. This time I grabbed one of my favorite things to color - a floral embossing folder. This one is called the Brilliant Cornflower Embossing Folder and Cutting Die. Here is an image:
Here is my card:
I embossed the Brilliant Coneflower Embossing Folder and Cutting Die using white cardstock. I then die-cut two of the flower dies. I embossed them by placing them inside the flower they fit in (the top one on the left). I then colored the three flowers on the full embossed panel with Copic Markers. I only colored the bottom of the petals on the two full flowers. I added shading with a colored pencil (one color for the flowers and one color for the stems). I did the top of the cones with a dark brown Copic on the bottom and then little flicks of it moving upward. I used my glitter pens in yellow to color over all of the open areas. I then used an orange glitter pen for the top of each yellow area. I added some shading to the brown area with a dark brown pencil. I had a photo of coneflowers that I was trying to imitate as I have never seen one in real life. I had no idea how to get the cones to look right, so i just did my best!
I attached the two flower dies over the ones on the flat piece. I turned them a little so the petals underneath showed. One fits exactly and one almost fits, so by moving them a little up and left or right, you can see the image below. I then stamped a sentiment using the Leafy Cluster stamp set with Carnation Ink. I die-cut it out with the matching dies. I attached that to the top and stamped a smaller sentiment from the same set below it with black ink. I added three sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.
This card was exactly what I enjoy the most about card making - coloring flowers! I love looking up real flowers and discovering new ones and practice coloring them. I wish we had these gorgeous flowers on the Brilliant Coneflower Embossing Folder and Cutting Die in California! Thanks for stopping by! Suzy
