Of all the products in the SSS Be Bold release, I think the A2 Nested Frame Dies are my favorite as I've been using them on so many cards! I want to tell you more about them so you can get the most out of them if you purchased them and then show you a way to use them as a background for a card. Here is an image of them as they come:
If you order these frames DO NOT CUT THEM APART! I made the mistake of cutting the two largest frames off the others. If you cut the full set as they are, you will end up with double the frames with all of them the same width. Because I cut two off, I have to try to position them just perfectly to get the same width on each side and it's hard to do. I wish I had realized this. I will show you a card that uses all the frames to demonstrate my point! They also come with a cute Hello die that I've used on my card.
Because there is gold matte cardstock on this card, it's hard to get even light on it, so the close up picture is a better representation of what it looks like. I die-cut the entire set of frames from white cardstock, pink cardstock, butter yellow cardstock, and gold matte cardstock. Like I said I had to position the largest ones and ended up having to die-cut them a couple of times to get them evenly spaced. I also die-cut the hello word twice from pink and white cardstock. My picture makes it look like the gold frame on the outside of the card is not even, but it is. I just use a perpendicular crop for my cards so they are perfectly shaped and it cuts some off if they aren't straight on the edge. I added adhesive to a piece of A2 white cardstock and I started with the inside piece and then placed frames around it changing the colors as I moved outward. The gold in the center is solid - I did remove the hello from the middle and cut it separately. This became my background for the card. Do you see how I have twice as many frames in all of the sizes so you can use them together? Also I can use the largest frame to cut down my card fronts so I have an even border around them as I've always used the A2 Thin Frame Dies for that or the Basic Rectangle Dies, but this die would give me the perfect size card to matte on colored cardstock.
I glued the white Hello to the center of the gold center piece. I then glued the pink letters over it. I die-cut several of the small flowers in the Cherry Blossom Embossing folder and cutting dies from white cardstock. I then attached them to the inside of the embossing folder and embossed all of them at the same time. You just have to attach them to the flowers in the fore-front so they are full flowers. I colored the inside ares with a soft pink Copic. I added Rainbow Splash Gem Stickers in pink to the center of each. I glued just the center of the flowers around the white frame. I then bent the edges upward for dimension.
I wanted to make this card just to show you WHY you don't want to cut the A2 Nested Frame Dies apart. I promise to stop brining it up from this point forward. I just love frames and getting twice as many out of the dies seem like a good plan to me! They should say that on the packaging!!! I love these little flowers from the Cherry Blossom embossing folder and cutting die as they add the perfect touch to the frames. I'll be back almost daily with cards using the Be Bold release as I have a lot more products I haven't tried yet! Thanks for stopping by! Suzy
