Today is the release of the new April 2024 card kit called Wild and Free Flowers. I LOVE THIS KIT! The colors in the papers are so pretty and a floral stamp set that you can color? Count me in! I had so much fun making my cards. I won't be doing "one stamp, five ways" any more with all of the SSS Kits - it was just too much for me. I'll be making 2-3 cards though. The stamp in the kit is also called Wild and Free Flowers stamp set and there is a set of matching Wild and Free Flowers Dies you can purchase separately. You can buy them together as a Wild and Free Flower bundle HERE. There is also an exclusive embossing folder in the kit called Floating Flowers Embossing Folder which is sold separately. Here is an image of the kit:
Here are my 3 cards:
I made this card with the Floating Flowers Embossing Folder in the kit. I embossed it with white cardstock running it through my die-cut machine three times so I got as deep as an impression as possible. I then colored the flowers with Copic Markers which is surprisingly easy with embossing folders. Because the markers tend to bleed out a little from the edges of where you color, I just color right on the raised portion and then when they bleed, they bleed down to the portion that is sticking up and the ink doesn't hit the background. And if they don't bleed then no one sees the part that didn't get colored anyway! I mounted it to a white card base.
I die-cut two thin frames (this is a sneak of a new product coming soon that I accidentally used so shhhhh) using Gold Matte Cardstock for one and one of the Holiday Color Blend Cardstock for the other. I glued both to the top of the flowers. I embossed a sentiment from the Wild and Free Flowers stamp set which by the way has SO MANY SENTIMENTS IN IT, with gold embossing powder that comes in the kit. I attached that to teh bottom right side inside the frames. I added some Moonstone clear sparkling sequins and then some gold gems inside each sequin.
I made this entire card with the patterned papers. the background is one paper and I die-cut it with the A2 Thin Frame Die and attached it to a white card base. The flowers are all from one other paper and I just cut them out with the leaves around them. I tried to use just the ones that were full and didn't have any portions of them cut off or covered. My photo above shows the sides of the leaves cut off on the right side, but that is just because I use a perpendicular cropping tool in Photoshop to make my cards perfectly shaped (it stretches them into a perfect rectangle!) so it requires me to remove anything hanging off. You can see they slightly hang off the edge in the next photo.
After I cut them all off the one other paper, I colored them with pencils, just using one dark color for shading and a white pencil to move the dark one around a little. I used a white Uniball around the edges. This little bit of shading and the white edges made the flowers just POP! I love them so much! I used foam tape behind them. Most are just as they came off the paper, but I did move a couple of the leaves as I arranged them. I also added the three small white flowers around them. They are raised in some areas and flat in others so they look like them are dimensional. I added a small sentiment from the stamp set in the top corner stamped on a SSS Sentiment Label Die with black ink. I just couldn't cover any of those flowers with a bigger sentiment! I also used some Pinkfresh Amethyst Glitter Drops around the flowers.
I stamped this flower grouping from the stamp set with black ink and colored it in with Copics. I meant to go back and add some additional darks/shading with colored pencil, but I forgot. I'm a little bothered by that haha. I'm such a perfectionist! I die-cut two of the patterned papers in the kit with the A2 Thin Frame Die and a Frame using Gold Matte Cardstock with the same die and layered them for the background.
I attached the flowers to the top of teh blue paper with foam tape behind them. I embossed a sentiment with the Gold Embossing Powder in the kit and attached that to the top left. I used some Moonstone sparkling clear sequins and PPP gold gems around the sentiment.
This Wild and Free Flowers April Card Kit is so beautiful. I was so in love with the American Crafts papers in the kit - the colors and all of the floral designs are just gorgeous. I hope you enjoyed these cards - thanks for visiting! Suzy
