I pulled out a product from STAMPtember that I never got a chance to use and turned it into a holiday card! I used the Floral Wreath Embossing Folder, which I think looks more like a summer/tropical wreath. But I changed up the colors and added lots of glitter and a holiday sentiment and bam, another Christmas card done! Here is the Floral Wreath Embossing Folder:
Here is my card:
I first embossed the Floral Wreath Embossing Folder with white cardstock. I always run it through 3 times, but I don't wet my paper anymore. Wasn't sure it even helped. I get good raised images this way. I then colored the wreath with Copic Markers using reds for the flowers and greens for the leaves. I used a Gold Uniball gel pen for the flower centers.
I still wasn't feeling a holiday vibe from it, so I decided to color the background black with a black Copic Marker. I love the look of black backgrounds and I thought it would not only look good, but allow me to cover all my coloring mistakes! I then attached it to a white card base. I then splattered paint over it using the Gansai Tambi Starry Nights paint set. I used the white which looks silver and a couple of the golds and felt like I went a little too crazy! I added glitter all over the flowers and leaves with Glossy Accents covered with Unicorn Confetti Glitter. I was starting to feel the Christmas goodness!
I decided I had added too many paint splotches, so I took a black prismacolor colored pencil (they are very waxy and opaque) and colored over all the splatters in the center and some of the ones around the outside of the card. You can tell if you look close as the black pencil was darker than the black marker. I stamped the "season's greetings" stamp from the Making Spirits Bright stamp set (it was in the Dec card kit) on a small white banner with Rainbow Splash Ink in Crimson (a true red). I attached that to the bottom of the card. I die-cut the "all the joy" die 3x - twice from white cardstock and once from gold matte cardstock and layered them together. I attached that to the center of the card and added some Moonshine Sequins around the wreath.
I now have a VERY festive holiday card using this Floral Wreath embossing folder. What products can you find in your stash that can be made into Christmas cards by using holiday colors and LOTS of glitter? I love getting more use out of my products, so this was a fun one! I also like telling you my mistakes so you can learn from me and know that everyone messes things up. I'm just determined to never throw a card away and always make it work! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
