Today is the release of the Simon Says Stamp Limited Edition Holiday 2023 Tag Kit. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you today which resulted in 3 cards and 6 tags (don't try to add up to five). Here is an image of the kit:
Some of the products in the kit are sold by themselves including the Home For Christmas stamp set, the add-on of the Home For Christmas matching dies, the Stems and Berries dies, and the Festive Candy Cane Stencil. I've used all of these in my creations below.
CARD 1:
For my first card, I only used the 4 inks in the kit (in fact, I just used 3 of them!). I used Cherry and Blush for the house pieces and Pine for the trees. I stamped them all on white cardstock. Instead of stamping the house pieces attached to each other, I stamped them separately so I could add them in a layered fashion. I had the dies, but because there aren't individual dies for the windows, doors, and roofs, I had to fussy cut those to allow them to be layered. I like the look of dimension this created on the houses. I stamped five of the trees, some of the ones with ornament spots and some without. I think I added colored pencil lines to the one on the top and ended up combining it with a bunch that didn't have lines (this was actually my last card I made and I was using up the trees I had ready!). I added Rainbow Splash Gems to all of the trees, wreath, and berries and some small pearl stickers for door knobs. I stamped the snowflakes with Latte ink and went over them with a silver Uniball.
As mentioned on some previous posts recently, I sprayed a bunch of card backgrounds with Tim Holtz Mica Sprays. It was a party! I sprayed, flicked, used multiple colors, added gold and white splotches and just generally went crazy. I've used almost all of them, so I think it was worth my time! This background I used for the sky was sprayed very lightly with Wonderland Mica Mist and I also flicked some of it over it for bigger droplets. I then dribbled some Frozen Fog over it by removing the sprayer and flicking it, which is a light silver color. I flicked some white gouache paint over it last. I created two hills from white cardstock (just cut the tops of them to make it easy!). I added all of the houses and trees. I stamped the sentiment with the same Cherry Ink. I love working with the small ink pads as it is so much easier to ink up small stamps. Last, I added some Frosted Lace Stickles around the top of the snow and under each tree and house for snow.
CARD 2:
I stamped all of the houses and decorations again using the 4 inks that came with the kit. I used Tropic, Cherry, and Blush for the house pieces and presents, and Pine for the trees and wreath. After they were stamped, I die-cut them all out. Then I used the Faber Castelle black pen in the kit to outline and doodle over all of the images. I added a few details to the houses which was fun. Then I went in with a white Uniball to color in the details. I stamped the snowflakes in Latte again and went over them with the silver Uniball. I used the Rainbow Splash gems for the tree ornaments. I had so much fun decorating these houses this way!
Another Mica Mist background! This time I wanted to match the Tropic color of PSInk I used in the houses, so I sprayed it with Frosty Mint. I splattered with white paint and with the white color in the Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors paint which gives you a very soft white. I again used two white hills for the snow. I added all of the stamped images over the background with foam tape behind some. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set with black ink on the bottom.
CARD 3:
This time I made a slimline card with the stamped houses. I wanted to show a scene using all 3 of them on a slimline, a horizontal A2 card and a vertical A2 card. I stamped them with other colors of Pawsitively Saturated Inks. I used Sunbeam, Surf, and Guava with no layering of colors to shade. I used Pine for the trees again and Cappuccino for the roofs and chimneys. I added some details with a silver Uniball and some lines on the chimneys with a brown pencil. I added Morning Dew Nuvo drops over the windows. I used the Rainbow Splash gems again on the trees and other areas as they are the perfect size. I used Silver Metallic Nuvo Drops for door knobs. And again, a silver Uniball over the snowflakes. I die-cut them all out.
I made two white cardstock snowbanks. I used Marine PSInk for the sky. I attached all of the images to the background with foam tape behind some. I then stamped the sentiment with black ink on the bottom of the card.
TAGS 1:
The tag on the left is made with one of the Simple Stories This is the Life patterned papers in the kit die-cut with the Large Rounded Tag Die (I die-cut a second out of white cardstock to attach it to so it was thicker). I cut out the design on the front of one of the 3x4 cards in the paper pad in the kit and attached it to the front of the card. I added some shading to the items with colored pencils and a gold uniball gel pen. I used red Rainbow Splash gems all over it. I tied a piece of red/white twine to go over the bow on the front. I tied some of the new SSS Silver and White Twine and Lawn Fawn Peppermint Twine in the top of this tag.
The second tag is die-cut from white cardstock using the Swatching Tag Die (new). I stenciled the Festive Candy Cane Stencil and the inks in the kit on the front of the tag. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on the bottom with black ink. I added some Jewel Nuvo Drops in the background and Glitter Nuvo Drops over the bow and teal leaves.
TAGS 2:
I used the Red Holographic cardstock for the tag on the left (came in the kit) with the SSS Large Standard Tag Die. I then die-cut another tag from white cardstock using the new largest size Label Tag. I tied that to the top with some of the white and silver twine. I die-cut the Stem and Berries die in the kit from a pieces of cardstock I had sprayed with Tim Holtz Mica Mists in Peppermint Stick and Rustic Wilderness Oxide Spray. I also die-cut some silver leaves from Silver Matte Cardstock. I then attached the berries over the sprig and the silver leaves over the green ones and bent them up. I attached that to the white tag. I glued two of the Tim Holtz candy cane's from the kit to the bottom of the tag with the same twine tied in a bow on top of them. I stamped Merry Christmas on a SSS Sentiment Label Die with black ink and added that to the bottom.
For the second tag in this photo, I used the second largest CZ Nested Tag Die die-cut from white cardstock. I layered more of the Stem and Berries Die die-cut from the same green backgrounds and a red piece sprayed with Yuletide Mist (this matched the Cherry Ink in the kit perfectly). I also die-cut some from cardstock I had sprayed with Frozen Fog Mica Mist and glued them all to the front of the tag. I stamped Happy Holidays on a sentiment label and added that to the bottom. I used Glossy Accents and Unicorn Confetti Glitter over all of the foliage. I tied a piece of silver ribbon with a string of Lawn Fawn Peppermint Cording in a bow.
TAGS 3:
This time I wanted to use a background I had sprayed with my favorite color of Mica Mist called Juniper Berry which is a bright blue. I die-cut the Stem and Berries die from that piece and from Silver Glitter Paper for the tag on the left. I used the Swatching Tag Die with Silver Matte Cardstock for the tag. I glued all of the sprigs and leaves over it layering them for depth. I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set with black ink on a sentiment banner and attached that to the bottom. I added more Glossy Accents and Unicorn Confetti glitter. I used blue ribbon and a piece of the silver/white twine for the top.
I die-cut this tag directly from the blue sprayed paper that was splattered with white paint using the Large Rounded Tag die. I die-cut the Stem and Berries die from Silver Matte Cardstock and from a piece of paper I had sprayed with Frozen Fog Mica Spray. I layered them over the card with red berries added to the stem. I stamped the sentiment on a small sentiment banner to attach to the bottom of the tag. I used Glossy Accents and glitter again for snow. I added silver ribbon and a bow of white/silver twine in the top.
That's it - a "one stamp, five ways" post that makes no sense as it has 3 cards and 6 tags using the SSS Limited Edition Holiday 2023 Tag Kit and the Home For Christmas stamp set. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving all my card making friends! Suzy
