STAMPtember is over and does SSS take a break? NO! They are on to bigger and better every single month! Today is October 5th, the official release date of the new Season of Wonder release. If you aren't in the holiday mood yet, you will be after visiting SSS and seeing all of their new products and the gallery with tons of Season of Wonder inspiration! Today I have a card to share with you using the Mitten Garland and Embossing Folder and Cutting Die as shown here:
Here is my card. I also used the Snowflake Circles stamp set from the STAMPtember product release.
This card is pretty basic and doesn't use a lot of supplies, but it took some time to make (who cares when you love to color as much as I do though!). I embossed the Mitten Garland Embossing Folder with Neenah white cardstock. I then die-cut 6 sets of the mittens and embossed a pair in each of the six sets on the embossing folder. This way they are a) easier to color within the lines! and b) stand out from the background. I first colored the background with light Copic markers. I then used a Silver Uniball to color over the little lines on the background. I used a silver glitter pen over each of the dots. I used a white Uniball over the dots on the silver banners. Once the background was done, I moved on to the mittens!
I colored all of the mittens in with Copic markers. I used all my favorite bright colors which I think work nicely for winter. I used a white Uniball to add back all of the embossed details on them. I then attached them all to the background. I could have used foam tape behind them and considered it, but I didn't. I embossed a sentiment from the Snowflake Circles stamp set (STAMPtember release) using SSS Silver Embossing Powder on a small sentiment banner. I attached that to the center of the card with foam tape behind it. I then added some white dots here and there using SSS White Pigment Ink Refill and let them dry. I used Stickles Frosted Lace drops over all of the white drops. If you put them directly on the background, they don't show up very well, so I always use them over white.
I hope you enjoyed this little foray into winter time as in my neck of the woods, it was 85 today! And I live by the beach in southern CA, so it is usually cooler here. I guess we never really have winter, so I don't get to wear mittens unless I travel to snow! I do adore this "Mitten Garland Embossing Folder and Cutting Die" though and I really like this card I made with it. You can see the entire Season of Wonder release HERE. There will be a two day blog hop on Friday October 6th and Saturday October 7th. I'll be part of day one, so make sure to come back and visit! If you have seen the new release banner, you have seen the card I will be sharing! Thanks for visiting today! Suzy
Warm and fuzzy fun!
