Today is a special release by Simon Says Stamp for STAMPtember. Each year, they release a religious holiday card kit. This Limited Edition Card Kit is called Hark the Newborn King. Here is an image of this gorgeous kit:
There is a 6" x 8" stamp set also called Hark the Newborn King and a set of matching dies. They also have some other exclusive products that are sold alone including a Stylized Mandala Stencil and The Manger Die. I have used both in my cards below.
I used the Stylized Mandala Stencil in the kit for this card. I attached it slightly offset to a white card base. I used the Soft Navy Ink Pad in the kit with a Ranger Foam Applicator to apply ink over it. I tried to keep it softer in some spots and darker in others. I die-cut this piece with the A2 Thin Frame Die and attached it to a piece of Gold Matte Cardstock.
I used some Navy Blue embossing floss with French Knots to stitch the gold sequin stars that came in the kit to the center of the card and the middle of each of the three pieces. I also added french knots to the center of the small blue flowers. I used Midnight Blue and Mustard Gold Nuvo Drops around the mandala.
This card looks much harder than it was! I took one of the pieces of patterned paper from the Crafter's Companion O Holy Night 6x6 papers in the kit and die-cut it with a SSS Basic Rectangle Die. I then colored it with colored pencils. I primarily used Caran d'Ache Luminance pencils as they are the most opaque, but I also used Prismacolor because they are very waxy and cover well. I just enhanced what was already on the paper. It was really fun to do! I attached it to a piece of the Gold 6x6 Cardstock in the kit.
I die-cut The Manger Die from the kit from both the Gold Glitter Cardstock and the Copper Glitter Cardstock in the kit. I cut baby Jesus out of it and just used the frame. I glued the copper edges over the gold insides. I attached this over the manger scene on the paper. I used Gold Embossing Powder to emboss the star and the sentiment as well as two of the smaller stars in the stamp set. I cut them out and attached them to the front of the card. I added the star that came inside The Manger Die over the large star using both colors again. I also added 3 gold gems.
I used the Stylized Mandala Stencil for this card again. This time I attached it to a piece of white cardstock and applied Decofoil Transfer Gel over it using a palette knife. I let it dry for at least an hour. I then attached a piece of the Decofoil Gold Foil in the kit over it and ran it through my die-cut machine. No laminator needed for this type of foiling! I cut this piece down with the A2 Thin Frame Die and attached it to a card base using the navy cardstock in the kit.
I stamped the large starburst in the stamp set with the Navy ink in the kit and cut it out. I attached that over the center of the stenciled design. I then embossed the manger and a sentiment from the stamp set with gold embossing powder. I cut them out and attached them on the front of the card. I used a star from the gold and bronze glitter cardstock and the Manger Die over the top of the manger. I used some Navy Nuvo Drops inside the small flowers.
I wanted to do a "one stamp, five ways" post with this kit, but I only got time to make 3 cards this time. I do adore the kit though and I really want to color more of those gorgeous patterned papers. This Limited Edition "Hark the Newborn King" Card Kit will sell out quickly, so jump on it if you love it as much as I do! This is a preorder for this kit and it will not ship until mid to late October. Thanks for visiting today! Suzy
