Today's SSS STAMPtember collaboration stamp set is with Concord and 9th called Festive Flowers. These are flat stamps that can be layered for dimension/shading. I don't usually like flat stamps as much as I enjoy coloring so much. But I gotta be honest, this stamp set is GORGEOUS and I love it enough that I would use it for all of my Christmas cards. It's the first set I've felt that about. And not having to color is a huge bonus when mass producing! It is sold alone or in a bundle with a set of matching dies. I didn't have the dies, but since I did a one layer card, it didn't matter (nice bonus of saving money this way). Here is an image of the Festive Flowers bundle:
And here is my one layer card:
I saw the colored image of this stamp set in action and I tried to do a similar layout. I started by stamping the large red flower in two colors of red ink. As much as I love my Pawsitively Saturated Inks, they don't have a red that is this red (although who knows, maybe they will soon!), so I reached for my new Rainbow Splash inks. That line has inks and cardstock that matches perfectly and some of the colors are ones that I don't have in any other ink or cardstock. I especially want to get my hands on Lake and Princess cardstock as they are colors that I don' have anything close and would use all the time. I stamped the first part of the flower with Scarlet Ink and the second part with the shading with Crimson Ink right in the center of my white cardstock.
I used SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks for the leaves. I used Trio 14 including Aspen, Sage, and Pine. For most leaves, I did the lighter portion in Sage and the shadows in Pine. I stamped the pine needles in Pine. I used Aspen and Sage for the plant at the top. This way all my greens matched, but there is different intensity to the type of leaf giving some variation in the look. Once all the stamping was done, I die-cut this piece with a SSS Basic Rectangle Die and mounted it on Rainbow Splash Crimson Cardstock which matches the ink in the large flower perfectly.
Next, I used a liquid glue in very small amounts on the end of the flower petals and on the leaves, between the pink needles. I wanted it to look like snow. I shook Unicorn Churnky Glitter over all the glue and pressed it on to get better coverage. Once that was dry, I stamped the sentiment on the top left side with Intense Black Ink. I cut Christmas off "happy Christmas" and then added the Love & Joy stamp below it. I used Rainbow Splash Gem Stickers over the center of the flower (yellow small ones) and around the background (large and small red ones).
I really enjoyed using this Concord and 9th stamp set called Festive Flowers. As mentioned, I made a one layer card so I didn't need the dies, but it is also sold as a Festive Flowers and Dies bundle.
