Today's STAMPtember release is a Limited Edition Kit by SSS called "Just Batty" for all of your Halloween creations! There is a stamp set in the kit also called Just Batty stamp set that I use for my "one stamp, five ways" post today. I also use almost every other element in this kit, so stick around if you are deciding if you want it or not! Here is an image of the entire kit:
You can purchase almost all of the items in the kit separately if you don't want to buy the entire thing (all in supply list at bottom of post). I used the Just Batty stamp set, but didn't hate the Just Batty matching dies. There is also a Bat Tag die that I used for one of my shaker cards and tags and a Halloween Damask stencil that I used for my treat bag. Here are my 5 projects:
My first card uses one of the American Crafts Happy Halloween 6x8" papers. I cut it to be 5.5"x4.25". I then used a rectangle die to cut out a piece in the middle. I applied PSInk in Mandarin along the outside and inside edges using a Ranger foam blending tool. I cut a piece of SSS Acetate and then attached one of the Tim Holtz Halloween Shattered Window to the top of it along the edges. I attached the two to the back of my opening in the paper. I then used two rows of foam tape along the edges of the paper.
I positioned the stamps "Halloween" and "Greetings" (which had to be cut off another stamp) on a cream cardstock card base so they would show inside the shaker window. I stamped them with black ink. I then used glue dots to attach a TH Candy Corn Confection to each side of greetings. I poured a bunch of the Ghostly Glitz Confetti Sequin Mix in the area of the opening. I attached the foam tape on the back of the patterned paper to the card base over the confetti. When you shake it, you can see the entire greeting even though it's hard to read in my photos. I stamped the row of pumpkins in the stamp set and colored them with Copics and used a white Uniball to add lines. I fussy cut them out as I didn't have the matching dies and attached them to the bottom of the front of the window. I added a stamped spider and several bats which I also fussy cut out, to the top of the card front.
I ended up making THREE shaker cards with this kit as the Ghostly Glitz Confetti Glitter was just so cute (I ended up using ALL of it!). This time I started with a piece of A2 sized white cardstock. I then die-cut the Bat Tag die from the from center of it. I die-cut another from the packaging in the Tim Holtz Halloween Ephemera package. I also die-cut the bat area out of black cardstock and a few from white cardstock. I then used a palette knife to apply a thick coat of the Tim Holtz HW Grit Paste to the white cardstock with the window cut out. I set it aside to dry. I attached the black bat over three white bats for dimension and attached them inside the spiderweb packaging. I positioned that on the front of a cream card base where the opening was in the paper I covered with Grit Paste.
Once the grit paste was dry, I attached a TH Halloween Shattered Window to a piece of SSS acetate to fit inside the shaker window. I attached those two pieces to the inside of the window. I then built up two layers of foam tape around the outside edges of this piece. I filled the opening with the Ghostly Glitz Sequin Mix. I attached the card front over it to create the shaker window. I die-cut a frame using the SSS A2 Thin Frame dies die-cut from SSS Luxe Glitter Cardstock in black. I glued that over the grit paste. I stamped the skeleton and a couple of bats, colored the skeleton with a gray Copic and white uniball and attached them to the card front. I die-cut a Banner using the SSS Word Mix 2 Dies from watercolor paper and painted it purple to match the ghosts in the confetti mix. I attached that to the right bottom of the card front. I used glue dots to add the spider web and a couple of bats from the confetti mix to the card front.
And my third shaker card! The kit comes with several clear envelopes that are almost the size of the 6x8 paper pad. I had to slightly cut down one of the American Crafts Halloween patterned papers to fit inside the clear envelope. I then poured the rest of the Ghostly Glitz Confetti Sequin Mix inside the envelope and glued it shut with tape on the backside (I cut a little off the top before turning it to the backside). I glued that to a cream card base the size of the envelope.
I stamped several of the images in the stamp set with Intense Black Ink and used Copics to color some of the images. I then stamped a few of the sentiments in the stamp set on Honeybee Sentiment Banners and SSS Sentiment Label Dies using black ink. I also cut out one of the sentiments from a piece of the patterned paper. I attached all of the sentiments to the top left of the shaker. I added all of my colored images to the bottom of the envelope. I stamped happy halloween on another SSS Sentiment Label Die with black ink and attached that to the bottom of the envelope. I added a stamped spider to the top left of the shaker.
This kraft bag came in the kit. I used the Halloween Damask stencil over it I used Mandarin PSInk over the first stencil which didn't show up that well. I then applied Tim Holtz black Texture Paste over the second stencil in a thick coat and let it dry. This stuff is soooo cool - it looks like black buttercream frosting and I probably could have put it in the fridge and my husband would have eaten it! I cut a piece of the patterned paper in orange to fit on the top of the bag.
I stamped the skeleton stamp with black ink and then used Mandarin ink to stamp the sentiment on it. I attached that to the orange paper. I tied a piece of the TH Black Tinsel from the kit in a bow on the handle of the bag. This bag is perfect for trick or treating for my grandkids!
I made 3 of the tags with images from the patterned paper attached to Kraft tags so they were thicker and look matted. I used the Bat Tag die to make one of the tags. I die-cut it from white cardstock and black cardstock and cut around the black portion and attached over the white tag. I then used the bat from the Tim Holtz packaging I had left over from my shaker card. I attached various pieces of the Tim Holtz HW ephemera and stamped images I had left over after making my cards to the front of the four tags. I stamped a few sentiments to add to them as well. I tied black tinsel in two and some black and orange twine I had in the top of the other two.
Whew, these "one stamp, five ways" posts are always so long to type! I hope someone uses all my detailed instructions so my wrists and fingers hurting is worth the time! I will be honest - I hate HW and I hate HW colors. I always dread working with the HW kits, but then after I am done, I love all the creations and it (((almost))) gets me in the mood for my disliked holiday! I'll pretend for the grandkids anyway. I do love candy though, so there is that... I hope you enjoyed these 5 Limited Edition Just Batty Halloween Kit creations. Thanks so much for visiting and keep coming back as I'll be posting every day in STAMPtember!!! Suzy
