Today is MOTHER'S DAY! Happy Mother's day to all of my blog reading friends. I don't know who you are, but I hope someone reads my posts! I don't particularly LIKE this holiday as I feel like it brings up more hard to process feelings than happy feelings in most. It also somehow makes me/maybe many feel inadequate. And also there are the "expectations" of what you want a day of appreciation for all of the hard work you do all year to be like and that never quite turns out the way you want. But anyway, it's a day to celebrate ALL women, so let's go with it and be happy!!!
Now on to the purpose of this post beyond my dislike of Mother's Day meanderings. Today is also the release of the SSS June 2023 Card Kit called Etched Greetings. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the kit and all of the contents, but focusing on the Etched Greetings 6x8" stamp set. I didn't have a set of matching dies, so I fussy cut mine out. Here we go!
I stamped the larger flower stamp from the Etched Greetings stamp set with Intense Black Ink and cut it out since I didn't have the dies. I colored it with colored pencils and the Crafter's Companion glitter pens from my last card kit. I pulled out the butterfly from the Tim Holtz ephemera pack that came with the kit. I used the bright pink glitter pen and a white Uniball to add more color to it. I stamped the Happy Birthday stamp with Latte Ink on white cardstock. I outlined it with a fine tip black pen and colored it with colored pencils. Don't ask me why. Because it was fun to do? I then cut around the edges of that.
I used a piece of patterned paper from my stash that was coral/bright pink for the background that I die-cut with the SSS Rectangle Dies. I then arranged all of the pieces mentioned above on the card front. I cut the flower stamp apart so I could use the flowers separately. I also tucked some of the leaves in the ephemera pack behind the flowers. Last, I added some pearls from the Honeybee Stamps Happy Hearts Pearl Stickers around the sentiment.
I realized that I used a die for the background of this stamp that hasn't been released yet - so let's just pretend this is a sneak peek and not mention it further, ok? I die-cut one of the patterned papers in the kit for a frame and a piece of white cardstock for the inside of the frame. I then embossed the two flower branches in the Etched Greetings stamp set with SSS Gold Embossing Powder on the white portion. I attached both to a white card base.
I die-cut the Thanks die in the kit with white cardstock and the Gold Matte cardstock piece in the kit and glued the white letters over the gold frame. I attached that to the center of the card with foam tape behind it. I used another butterfly from the ephemera pack and again dressed it up with some blue glitter pen and gold Uniball additions. I attached that to the top of the card. I cut one of the sentiments from the sentiment label sheet in the card kit into a thin strip and attached that below the thanks die. I added some gold/bluish sequins around the card front.
I used another one of the papers in the kit for the background of this card. I then die-cut an oval using the SSS Stitched Oval Dies and a pink patterned paper in my stash. I attached that over the green background.
I stamped both of the floral groups from the stamp set with Latte ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I used a black fine tip Micron for the center of the flowers. I cut them out and attached them over the oval. I then stamped a sentiment from the stamp set with Carnation Pawsitively Saturated Ink, cut it out and attached it to the bottom of the oval. I don't feel like the ink color matches that well in the pictures, but I also embossed it with three different colors and this one just matched the best, so I went with it! I added some bright pink sequins around the background.
I made the background of this card with Ranger Watercolor Paper and Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I used a mix of Blue Blitz and Falling Leaves and Solar Flare. I die-cut it and attached it to a green card base.
I embossed the happy birthday stamp with Forget-Me-Knot embossing powder on white cardstock. I cut around it and attached it to the center of the card with foam tape behind it. I stamped one of the flower stems with black ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I cut the stem off and attached it over the top of the sentiment. I added some Julie Hickey Tutti Frutti and Earth Tone Glossies around the top.
I used a SSS Rectangle die to cut one of the blue papers in the kit and attached it to a white card base. I embossed both of the flower stems with SSS Gold Embossing Powder on the vellum in the kit and SSS Mermaid embossing powder on white cardstock. I then cut them out - why is it so easy to fussy cut on vellum?!!! I embossed the "thinking of you" sentiment with gold embossing powder on the vellum as well. I attached it to a piece of white cardstock and cut around the edges.
I attached that to the bottom of the card with foam tape behind it. I then tucked all of the flowers under it and only attached the bottoms of them so they kind of float. I added a bird from the ephemera packet after coloring him a little with a gold uniball. I cut him out of a rectangle he was on. I added some gold/blue sequins around the sentiment.
And that is my five cards using this gorgeous Etched Greetings stamp set and the Etched Greetings card kit for June! Thanks so much for visiting and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALLLLLLLLL! (PS: Have no expectations and your day will go much better hahaha). suzy
