Today I made my second card using the Simon Says Stamp Peony Cling Stamp from the Dear Friends release. I guess you could say I like it. I might even make more! I also used the Elegantly Modern Greetings stamp and die set from the release. Here is my first card made with the Peony Cling Stamp that I shared during the Dear Friends blog hop (post is here):
And here is the card I made today. Unfortunately the colors are EXACTLY the same! I guess I only changed the coloring method! haha
I stamped the Peony Cling Stamp with Latte Pawsitively Saturated Ink on a piece of white cardstock. I then colored it with both Copic Markers and Colored Pencils. I love laying a layer of Copics down first and then using pencils to add shading and shadows. This works especially well with no-line stamping as the pencils give me a way to outline the images. I added some white lines to the images with a White Uniball gel pen. I used my yellow glitter pen from the Crafter's Companion Glitter Gel Pens (from last month's card kit) to add the tentacles on the yellow flower centers. What are these called?
I die-cut this piece with an A2 Thin Frame Die and mounted it on a white card base. I embossed a sentiment from the new Elegantly Modern stamp set with Cactus Flower embossing powder. I die-cut it out with the Elegantly Modern die. The really thin lines didn't emboss well, so I think using ink would have been better with this stamp set. But I saved it by using a matching color pencil to go over the thin lines and I thickened them all up a bit too. I attached this to the top of the card with foam tape beneath it.
I die-cut a SSS Sentiment Label Die from white cardstock. I stamped another sentiment from the stamp set with Intense Black Ink on that and added it above the Hello sentiment. I used three Sparkling Clear Sequins and Nuvo Drops in Pink Orchid and Windsor Wine around the sentiment.
I really wanted to color the Peony Cling Stamp with a different coloring tool than I had used on my first card (watercolors). This time using colored pencils and Copic markers is a very different look, but considering the flowers are the exact same colors, I'm not sure my cards are that different!!! Thanks for visiting today! Suzy
