Altenew came out with a peony stamp set recently (during this peony crazy that seems to be going on lately) that is huge! I think it was so smart to make such a big stamp set as it can be used in so many different ways. You could make wall art, larger cards, and you can use different portions of the flowers on your cards providing variety of the design. I just love this 8.5" x 11" stamp set called Blooming Peonies. There is also a set of Billowing Peonies Stencils and Billowing Peonies Dies. I like to color and didn't feel the need to have the dies, so I just bought the stamp. Here is an image of the Blooming Peonies stamp set:
I also used the Fancy Thanks wafer die and the Elegantly Modern stamp set from the Simon Says Stamp Dear Friends release for my sentiment. Here is my card:
I started by stamping one of the peony stamps in the Billowing Peony stamp set with Intense Black Ink on a piece of 5" x 7" white cardstock. I then spent a very long time coloring it! I first colored the images with Copic Markers and then I went in with colored pencils and added lots of details and shading. But I used colors that didn't go together for the two flowers. One was a deep maroon and one was pink. I ended up coloring over them again with Copies and colored pencils, this time using the same colors for both. The results ended up with coloring that looks really intense! I used a white Uniball on the edges of the petals.
I cut around the flowers and then attached them to a piece of SSS Pawsitively Velvet Luxury Cardstock. I cut around that so it is just under 5x7". I attached it to a card base made with Heffy Doodle Wildberry Cardstock.
I die-cut the SSS Fancy Thanks Die from white cardstock and from Color Blend cardstock assortment that is purple and pink. I glued the colored letters over the white ones. I attached that to the bottom of the images with foam tape behind them. I stamped a small sentiment from the Elegantly Modern stamp set on a SSS Sentiment Label die and attached that below the Thanks. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiments.
I have made so many peony cards lately as they are my favorite flower and there have been lots of stamp sets to use! I have a "one stamp, five ways" post that will be on the SSS blog on May 31st using the new Blissful Bouquet stamp set from the Dear Friends release. I think I buy every peony stamp set I see and this Altenew Billowing Bouquet stamp set might be my favorite since the blooms are so big! Thanks for visiting today! Suzy
