Hopefully you visited my blog yesterday to participate in day 1 of the 2 day blog hop so you were able to enter the $25 GC to SSS contest! Tomorrow, Saturday February 18th is day 2 of the hop. You can see my post from yesterday HERE. Today I have a card to share with you using two more of the new products in the SSS Be Creative Release. I've used the Parallelogram Cling Stamp and the CZ Big Old Birthday stamp and die bundle. Here is my card:
Colorful enough for you? I didn't mean to make it so bright - I wanted it softer, but I got carried away. So first I die-cut a rectangle using the SSS Basic Rectangle Dies out of Arches watercolor paper. I then embossed the Parallelogram cling stamp with SSS Extra Fine White Embossing Powder positioning it to be centered on the paper.
I then used just 3 shades of my Karin Brushmarkers to watercolor it. I first applied water and then touched the marker to the edges and tips of each shape. It looked great because the color ran into the inside on its own and the inside of each area was still white. But then I decided to add more shading after it dried, so I did it again and layered more color on it (wanting just darker outside edges, but ended up with darker everything)! It's pretty as I love these colors, but a little bright even for me! The biggest mistake I make with watercolors is not knowing when to stop. I layer and layer and layer and don't leave them translucent which is what is so beautiful about them. I did manage to do so on my balloon card yesterday though, so there is that! After it was dry, I attached it to a white cardstock card base with foam tape beneath it.
I used the same 3 markers for the greeting. This large birthday greeting comes from the CZ Big Old Birthday stamp set. I colored the letters in small areas at a time so the marker stayed wet when I stamped it. I used white cardstock as I didn't plan on using any water with them this time. I die-cut it out with the matching dies and attached it to the bottom of the card. I stamped a small sentiment from the same set with black ink and attached that below it. Last, I added some sparkling clear sequins.
So now you have seen how you can build up color with the Karin Brushmarkers through applying layers! haha I love this Parallelogram cling stamp with all it's twists and turns! The Be Creative release is full of products to inspire your creativity so make sure to check out the gallery to see all of the cards made with this release! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
