I usually use Simon Says Stamp products for my blog posts, but sometimes I fall in love with a floral stamp set by someone else and have to buy it to use. The stamp I bought for today's post is by Alex Syberia and is called Life is Good. I was drawn to it because of all the detail and the fine lines. I also liked the sentiment text. It looked like just the kind of stamp set that I would love to color! Here is an image of the Life is Good stamp set and the set of matching dies:
I'm new to her stamps, but isn't it so pretty? Now I'll have to check them all out. You can see all of her designs in the SSS store HERE. And here is my card:
I stamped the Life Is Good floral image on Arches watercolor paper with Intense Black Ink so I could watercolor it. I die-cut this piece with the SSS A2 Thin Frame Die.
I painted the image with my Karin Brushmarkers. I had problems with some areas bleeding, so I used a white Uniball to cover problem areas and then applied the Brushmarkers over the white paint to add color back. I also applied a Nuvo Aqua Glimmer Pen over the flowers to add a lot of sheen. This covered some of my black lines, so I redrew them with a fine tip Micron marker.
I used a wet brush to pull some of the color out of the images and give the background a light wash. These markers spread easily even when dry, or you can add color by touching your paintbrush to the tip of the marker and put the color onto a wet background. I like to keep it subtle moving out from the image. I stamped a sentiment in the stamp set with black ink on the bottom center and then added some Autumn Leaves sequins around it. I attached it to a Lawn Fawn Raspberry Cardstock card base.
Isn't this Life is Good stamp set so beautiful? I love the way it is colored on the image on the set of dies. I might have to try it again with Copics or pencils. Thanks so much for stopping by! Suzy
