I have had this card "under construction" for over a month and today I finally finished it! With some problems. But we will get to that... First, I used the Layered Rosebud Die from the Hugs release. I paired it with the Layered Rose Leaves dies. Here are images of both:
I made this slimline card using these:
As mentioned before, this card has been a long time in the making. When I received the Layered Rosebud Die before the Hugs release, I wanted to use it right away. I die-cut three of them and colored them in with Copic markers and glued all of the pieces together. Then they got put on a "back burner" as I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them. I really loved how they turned out with Copics though. I tried to do more lights and darks and shade them to look realistic. Copics aren't my favorite coloring tool - pencils are, so I don't have as much practice with them. I've really been in a Copic mood lately though.
When I pulled them out to use today, I realized there was also a set of Layered Rose Leaves dies that went perfectly with them! So I die-cut a few of those from white cardstock and colored them with Copics as well. I die-cut a white rectangle using the Slimline Nested Rectangle Dies. I attached that to a dark red card base. I then glued the leaves down just on the top of them, bending up the edges slightly. I used foam tape behind the roses and attached them above the leaves.
I then die-cut a sentiment from the new Bold Love sentiment strips using the Honeybee Sentiment Label dies and attached that over the front of the roses. I glued several sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment. Then I went to the beach to walk my dogs. When I got back, I decided I didn't like the back of the card white. So I attempted to add some Pawsitively Saturated Inks to the background after everything was already glued down. I used the Detail Flat Blending Brushes and they allowed me to get the ink under the petals. I used Carnation around the flowers and Celery around the leaves. I am so bugged that it doesn't look smooth and is too dark. Had I applied the ink before I glued everything down, it would look so much better. But let's not dwell on the negative - have you noticed how good I colored those roses with Copics? hahaha
I really enjoyed working with these two dies - the Layered Rosebud die and the Layered Rose Leaves dies. I (((think))) I am happy with how this card turned out! I'll send it to my mom for Valentine's Day as she thinks everything I make is perfect! xoxo suzy
