I'm slowly making my way through all of the products in the Simon Says Stamp Kisses Release. Today's card uses the Concentric Hearts Cling Stamp as well as the Nested Round Hearts Dies. My card looks like I spent a lot of time on it, but it really only used a few supplies and came together quickly. Plus it was super fun to make. Here is an image of the cling stamp:
During the SSS Hugs and Kisses Blog Hop, I showed the Painted Wreath Cling Stamp used with Karin Brushmarkers. This is the first time I had tried these markers on a cling stamp and I loved the results. You can see that blog post HERE. I decided to try this technique again with the Concentric Hearts cling stamp. Here are the results!
I attached the entire Concentric Hearts Cling Stamp to my Misti lid all in one piece (it breaks up so each heart frame can be used by itself!). I cut a piece of Arches cold pressed watercolor paper into a 6x6 piece so it fit the entire stamp on it. I then started inking up each of the hearts one by one in rainbow colors using my Karin Brushmarkers. For each shade, I colored the lighter color first and stamped and then colored the darker color on just the edges and stamped again. I went through all the colors of the rainbow out to green and blue, but you can't see them all on here since I cut it down.
After each color of ink was applied, I used a fine tip paintbrush dipped in water to go over the heart to mix the colors together. Because the watercolor paper is bumpy, the colors applied to the bumps and the water moved them into the grooves. When they were all done, I used a wet paintbrush to mix the colors lightly between each heart so it was a mix of the two colors. I then flicked a red marker over the entire thing. I stamped the words portion of the stamp with Royal Blue and also wet it to mix the color on the inside of the heart. After it was dry, I restamped it so the letters were darker.
I die-cut this piece out with the largest die in the SSS A2 Thin Frame die set and attached it to a white card base. I then used the two smallest heart dies in the Nested Round Hearts dies set also from the Kisses release. I die-cut them from the extra pieces that were on each side of my 6x6 painted piece. They ended up being topsy turvy rainbows. I attached them around the card front to add interest and dimension. I also added some Chalk Stick Vintage Nuvo Drops.
This is a very bright card! I want to try using this Concentric Hearts cling stamp with just one or two of the frames since they all come apart. This was a fun technique to try with my Karin Brushmarkers which work well on cling stamps I have discovered. Last time I used them on white cardstock and didn't use any water and this time I used them on watercolor paper with lots of water - both worked well with cling stamps! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
