Pink Fresh Studios is one of my favorite stamp companies, so I was excited to design with their STAMPtember collaboration stamp set with Simon Says Stamp. The stamp is called Just Start and is a 4x6" stamp that can be purchased alone or with a set of matching dies. Here is an image of the bundle:
And here is my card:
I first stamped the images in the Just Start Pink Fresh stamp set with Intense Black Ink on Ranger Watercolor Paper. I then painted them with watercolors. Any type will work on this paper, but I used Daniel Smith as I have quite a bit of them in my tray. I miss using all of my new Karin markers - I'll have to go back to them soon. I wanted additional shading in the dark areas that I couldn't get with watercolors no matter how hard I tried (maybe a watercolor marker would work best for this). I pulled out my deep red colored pencil for those areas on the big rose and I think it really makes a difference. I can't put the pencils down no matter what coloring method I use! I added some dots on the berries and lines along the flower edges with a white Uniball gel pen.
I fussy cut these two floral groupings out as I didn't have the matching dies. Ranger WC Paper is so easy to cut though, so it wasn't a big deal. I then made the background for the card and as usual picked a white textured piece. I used the Detail Mandala Plate and white cardstock and then die-cut it with a rounded corner rectangle. I used Raspberry Cardstock by Lawn Fawn for the card base - it always matches those cards with reds and pinks well!
I attached the roses to the background with foam tape beneath them. I then embossed a sentiment from the stamp set with Ranger Extra Fine White Embossing Powder on a banner I die-cut from the same Raspberry cardstock. I attached that to the top of the card with foam tape beneath it as well - speaking of which, I love love the new SSS Foam Tape as it is thinner in width, not in height than the one I usually use, so no cutting that sticky stuff to fit under a banner! I added some sparkling clear sequins.
My love of roses and flowers in general would make this Pink Fresh stamp and die bundle a must have for me. I think buying the stamp alone is also a great option though as fussy cutting them wasn't that hard. You can see all of the SSS STAMPtember collab sets that are left at this link here.
