One of the products in the new SSS Dream Big release is called the Tropical Leaf Branch Wafer Die. I decided to try it out today and see what I could do with it! I ended up making a card with just this one die and I love it! Here is an image of the die:
I just returned from a week in Kauai which might be why I was drawn to this die. It reminded me of all of the beautiful greenery over there. Everything in Hawaii seems to have a filter on it that enhances the colors and the beauty. So I wanted to capture the colors and mood in this card.
I started by watercoloring a mix of blues and greens using Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I used Arches watercolor paper and wet it really well first. Then I painted it with a mix of Shimmer Powders: Blue Blitz, Atlantis Burst, and Falling Leaves. I shook the colors over the water and let them do their thing. I mixed some together, but kept splotches also. These things are amazing and I have fun every time I use them.
I used the Tropical Leaf Bunch Die to cut lots of leaves out of these watercolored papers. I tried to get a nice mix of blues, aquas and greens. I then die-cut a mini slimline rectangle using the largest die from the SSS Mini Slimline Rectangle dies and white cardstock. I glued all of the leaves to this piece overlapping the edges and then cut them off. Just like my random stamping, it felt like I was doing a puzzle which is my thing!
I attached this piece to a teal cardstock base. I embossed a sentiment using the CZ Beachy Keen stamp and die set and Turquoise embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom of the card. I used some Carribean Ocean Gloss Nuvo Drops around the sentiment.
This card was really fun to make and it takes me back to the beautiful colors of Kauai. I hope you like it! It made me really appreciate this Tropical Leaf Bunch die and now I might just have to make one in pinks and oranges next! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
Love this so much! I've got the die on order, so I'll be CASEing this for sure!
