The stamp set I used for today's card is a 6x8" stamp called "On The Horizon" that was part of the Dream Big release in July. I hadn't had a chance to use it yet and I wasn't really sure HOW I was going to use it. I've seen some beautiful cards with it though. Here is an image:
I wanted to try something a little different so I did! Here is my card:
I started with a piece of white cardstock die-cut with the largest frame in the SSS A2 Thin Frame Die. I then stamped the palm trees from the On The Horizon stamp set with Latte Ink in a random pattern over the cardstock. I think this would look good if you stamped them with a bright color of ink instead of coloring them. But my intention was to color them, so I wanted them to be in a light color of ink I could color over.
First, I colored the background of the card with Copics. I used RV25 Dog Rose Flower around the trees, then RV14 Tender Pink and RV13 Begonia Pink on the inside areas. I also used some RV 23 Pure Pink. I just mixed the different shades of coral pink and blended them together. I thought it was too dark so then I used R0000 Pink Beryl over the other colors and it removed some of the color giving me lighter areas. It looks really messy, but it was as good as I could get it! I colored all of the trees with colored pencils making sure to overlap some of the pink with the branches. I added some white Uniball gel pen around the edges of them so they would pop more.
I embossed a sentiment from the CZ Beachy Keen stamp set and die-cut it out with the matching dies. I embossed it with Ranger Hot Pink embossing powder. I attached that to the top center with foam tape underneath. I then used Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the openings between the trees.
This card is very bright and went a very different direction than I had intended! But I (((think))) I like it! The "On The Horizon" stamp set has so much potential for other style cards and I look forward to using it more! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
