The card I am sharing today as part of the new SSS Dream Big Release is very sparkly. And it is made with a stamp set called Born to Sparkle! It is sold alone or with a set of matching dies. Here it is as a bundle (which I had for the card I am sharing today):
I've seen a lot of unicorn stamp sets in my time and for some reason, this one just grabbed my attention. I love the tiny size of the ponies and I love the whimsical feel of the clouds. I was excited to create a scene with it on a slimline card.
I started by stamping all of the images in the Born to Sparkle stamp set with Intense Black Ink. I stamped a couple of the embellishment type images more than once. I then colored them all in with Copic Markers. I used shades of blue, purple, and pink. I kept each unicorn one color to make it easier. I colored several of the star images in with a silver Uniball gel pen. I die-cut all of the images out with the matching Born to Sparkle dies. I was very happy I had the dies for this set!
I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the SSS Nested Slimline Rectangle Die. I then applied Pawsitively Saturated Ink to it in 3 colors using SSS large brushes. I used Marine on the top, Lilac in the center, and Bubblegum with some Sweets added on the bottom. I'm not a great ink blender, but I was able to mix these 3 colors pretty easily. I attached this piece to a white cardstock card base.
Next, I attached all of the images I had colored onto the background creating a scene. I used foam tape behind some so they would look like they were in the forefront. I then went crazy adding Nuvo Glitter Drops to all of the unicorns and the rainbow. I used silver on the stars. I realized after I finished this card and photographed it (and sent it to SSS) that I forgot to glitter one of my Unicorns! I had the perfect color of glitter drops for him too! If you don't have a lot of Nuvo Glitter Drop colors, just purchase White Blizzard as it is clear with white glitter and would look good over all of the colors on your images. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on a white cardstock strip and attached that to the bottom of the card.
I just love the stamp sets that Alberto Gava has been illustrating for SSS and this Born to Sparkle is my favorite yet! His coloring skills are off the charts, but they certainly motivate me to improve! I think these unicorns are going to make my granddaughter very happy. I hope you enjoyed the 2 day blog hop celebrating the Dream big release. Have a great weekend friends! Suzy
