It's day 1 of the SSS 2 day blog hop celebrating their "Let's Chill" release. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the new Butterfly Dreams stamp and die set. At the end of this post, I'll have all the details of the blog hop. Here is an image of the Butterfly Dreams stamp and die set:
I've also used several other products from the new release in these cards including the Dandy Floral embossing folder and die, and the Doodle Daisy and Small Doodle Daisy Hot Foil Plates/Dies. Here are my five cards together and then each of my cards with directions below:
CARD 1:
I die-cut a slimline rectangle with the largest SSS Nested Slimline Rectangle Dies from white cardstock. I then used my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine to hot foil a bunch of the Doodle Daisy and Small Doodle Daisy Hot Foil Plates and Dies. I used Pink Glimmer Foil that came in a 4 pack, or you can buy it as a single also. I attached a bunch of these foiled flowers to the slimline rectangle letting them hang over the edges. I then turned it over and trimmed off all the excess. I colored the flowers in with Copic markers in just a few shades of pink with yellow centers. I attached this piece to a white slimline card base.
I was trying to figure out how to add my butterfly which was the whole purpose of this post! I stamped a bunch of the Butterfly Dreams butterflies with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I colored this set in with colored pencils. I die-cut them out with the matching dies. I ended up outlining this one so it stood out more with a fine tip Micron black marker. I found a stitched tag in my stash and I attached the butterfly to the side of it. I then stamped a sentiment from the stamp set on the top with black ink. I trimmed the side and attached it with foam tape over the card background. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment.
CARD 2:
I started this card by die-cutting a mini slimline rectangle with the SSS Mini Slimline Rectangle Dies from white cardstock. I then used the Ranger Foam Applicators (they give me a lighter touch than brushes) and applied two colors of the new Pawsitively Saturated Inks. I used a blend of the lightest shades in Trio 18 called Morning and the lightest shad in Trio 17 called Heather. I attached this piece to a piece of patterned paper I had that had similar colors in it.
I stamped another set of the Butterfly Dreams butterflies with Intense Black Ink on Ranger Watercolor Paper. I then colored them all in with my new Karin Decobrush Markers. These are the markers that are like acrylic paint in a brush pen and go on opaque. I love using them on stamped images! I do like to re-outline the images after I color them with a black fine tip pen as the outlines get a little painted over. I used a white Unibal gel pen to add details. I die-cut three out with the matching Butterfly Dreams dies and attached them to the card front. I then cut apart the "I believe in you" stamp and stamped half between the butterflies with black ink. I added some Nuvo Drops in Double Denim and Berry Blue Gloss around the sentiments and butterflies.
CARD 3:
I embossed the new Dandy Flower Embossing Folder and Die with white cardstock running it through 3 times to get a better embossed image. I also like to spray my cardstock with a light mist of water using a Ranger Mini Mister before embossing. I then colored in the image with Copic markers - it was so fun to do! I used them for the background also. I attached this piece to a matching card base.
I used my smallest butterfly from the set I stamped with MFT Natural Ink and colored in with colored pencils. I used Pink Orchid Nuvo Drops over the spots on the butterfly wings. I glued just the body down so I could bend the wings up slightly. I used an MFT Stitched Banner for the sentiment with Ranger Leaf Green embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom of the card with foam tape behind it. I used some English Mustard Nuvo Drops over the yellow flowers and the large flower center. I also added some Chalk Stick white Nuvo Drops around the flower.
CARD 4:
This was the last card I made and I don't really like the design. I had these four butterflies left from the set I stamped with MFT Natural Ink and colored in with colored pencils that I wanted to use. So I took a piece of white cardstock and cut it to be a little smaller than an A2 card base. I then applied 3 colors of Pawsitively Saturated Ink to the front of it including the new colors Morning and Lilac as well as a color from the last release called Carnation. I blended the colors together leaving a little area light in the center and the edges light. I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set in the center of the card with black ink.
I attached the four butterflies by gluing just their centers to the card surrounding the sentiment. I then was able to bend the wings slightly upward. I used Nuvo Drops to decorate the butterflies with small dots. I used Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the background. It's an "interesting" card - just not sure it I like it or not haha.
CARD 5:
This card was the most time consuming, but it was so fun to color! I stared with a piece of Arches watercolor paper cut to be 5x7 for a large card. I then embossed all of the butterflies around this piece in what I like to call "random stamping". I used Ranger Extra Fine White Embossing Powder. I then painted the flowers with my Karin Decobrush Markers. I colored in the background around them with a black Copic marker. I added some details to the butterflies with a white Uniball gel pen.
I used a SSS Sentiment Label die for the sentiment. I stamped it with Intense Black Ink and then used SSS Clear Embossing Powder over it. I used one of my butterflies I had colored with the same Karin Markers to the side of the sentiment and attached this banner to the bottom of the card with foam tape beneath it. I added some Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops and sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment banner.
I also posted a card last night on THIS BLOG POST using the new Beach Party Umbrellas cling stamp and the Beachy Keen stamp and die set. Here is the card:
