It's my fourth day working with the Simon Says Stamp new embossing folders/dies from their Let's Chill Release. If this is the first time you have visited, you can see the other posts here: Floral Harmony Embossing Folder and Die, Sunflower Fields Embossing Folder and Die, and Dandy Floral Embossing Folder and Die. Today I have a card using the Alstroemeria Embossing Folder and Die. I had no idea what that flower was or much less how to spell it, but after a google search, I had a good idea what they look like. Here is an image of the embossing folder and die set:
I haven't used the included dies on any of the cards I've made with these embossing folders, nor did I use it today. I think it would be so pretty to just emboss several of these flowers and die-cut them out for a totally different look. The included dies would also give you the option of including a separate flower over the embossing folder. I will definitely use them next time I use these folders. Here is my card:
This is a very bright card! When I googled what an Alstroemeria looked like, a photo of this color came up. But when it comes to pink Copic choices, I feel like their bright pink ones are TOO bright pink. I went with it anyway! I find that Copics are the easiest coloring tool to use with embossed images. I started by embossing the Alstroemeria Embossing Folder. I used a Ranger Mini Mister to lightly mist the cardstock with water first. I then ran it through my die-cut machine 3 times for the best image.
I colored in the images with Copics and then I colored the background with a mix of really light Copics to give the feel of more flowers in the background. I cut this piece down a little and tried it against every one of my bright pink cardstock colors and none were bright enough to match! So I made my own (brilliant and not sure why I don't do this more often!). I colored the edges of a piece of white cardstock with the same bright pink Copic marker I had used on the flowers (Cerise). I attached the floral piece to this piece and attached it to a white card base.
I die-cut the new Hello Sunshine die also from the Let's Chill release. I colored the letters with the same color of Copic again. I love how it matches the flowers so perfectly! I attached it over the center of the card front with foam tape beneath it. I found another sentiment from my leftover stash that I used below it. It is from the Silhouette Sentiments stamp set and matching die and I used Intense Black Ink to stamp it. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiments.
This was another simple card to make with very few supplies needed! It did take a bit of time to color it, but I always enjoy that part so no complaints from me. I think this Alstroemeria Embossing Folder is my favorite of the four I've working with so far! All I have left is the Graceful Butterfly Set which I will probably use tomorrow and this time I'm using the matching dies for sure! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
