The SSS Let's Chill release is full of summer goodness. My favorite stamp set in the release is called Beach Huts. It's a 4x6 stamp set, so smaller, but a lot is packed into this little masterpiece. I have always loved little colorful beach houses and living near the beach means I love it too! You can purchase just the Beach Huts stamp set or it can be purchased with a set of matching dies. Here is the bundle:
And here are my five cards:
I ended up making two slimline cards and one mini-slimline card because this set just worked well on that background size. I started this one with the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle Dies die-cut from white cardstock. I then applied Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Marine on the top and Latte on the bottom. I used the SSS Large Brushes and first rubbed most of the ink on a scratch paper so it was really light on the card front. I knew the card was going to be very crazy with the colors I used for the stamped items, so I wanted the background to be subtle! I attached this to a yellow card base.
I stamped all of the images in the Beach Huts stamp set with MFT Natural Ink doubling up on one of the houses. I then colored them all in with Copic markers. I've never used my Neon colors, so I decided to bring a couple of them out for this card. That pink is bright! I stuck with 2 shades of 4 colors for all of the images so they all went together well. I die-cut them out with the matching dies. I arranged them over the card base using foam tape behind the middle house and the fence. I had a piece of paper that I had painted with Solar Flare Nuvo Shimmer Powder which was bright enough to match my crazy card colors! I die-cut the frame for the Hello Sunshine die out of that paper and the letters out of white cardstock and layered them on the top of the card. I stamped "lets chill soon" by cutting into two pieces and I used the new Woodsy PSI. I added some Honeybee Back To Basics white jewels on the center of the umbrella and beach ball and the top of the i. I used Nuvo Glitter Drops over all of the colors on the ball, umbrella, beach towels, etc... I used Morning Dew which is a clear Nuvo Drop over the windows on the doors. I stamped the birds with the stamp Woodsy ink and cut them out for the top of the card. I used some Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the background.
This is my "random stamping" background card. I stamped all of the smaller images (all but the houses) on a piece of A2 sized white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored them all in with Copic Markers. I just fit the images together like a puzzle creating a pattern with the images. After they were colored, I decided they would look better outlined with black, so I used a fine tip Micron pen to outline them. I used a gray Copic marker to add shadows to all of the images. I die-cut this piece with the Lawn Fawn Just Double Stitching rectangle die to give it a little design element on the outside edges.
I die-cut the "hello sunshine die" from white cardstock and blue cardstock. I attached them with foam tape behind them to the front of the card. I used a sentiment from the CZ Reverse Chill Summer Sentiment Labels die-cut with the SSS Sentiment Label dies (the smallest one is the one I use ALL the time with these sentiment strips). I attached that under the hello sunshine. I then added some Nuvo Drops in Chalk Stick around the background of the card.
I started with a die-cut rectangle using the Mini Slimline Rectangle Dies. I applied Peachy PSI to this piece with a SSS brush (again using a scratch paper to absorb most of the ink so I could keep it really light). I stamped all of the images in the stamp set with Intense Black Ink. I colored them in with my Karin Decobrush Markers. I love these markers and usually use them on one of my cards in each of my 5 card posts just to show another way to color stamped images. They are kind of like gouache or acrylic paint in a brush tip marker so you get an opaque look and they shade wonderfully together. The only negative (only because I'm a perfectionist) is I sometimes have to re-outline my images with a black pen as the markers get on the outlines and I like them to be perfect!
I attached my colored images to the background using foam tape behind some. What would I do without my foam tape? I cut the two towels apart and used a fine tip black marker to draw the black lines to go behind the center house. I used Nuvo Glitter Drops over the ball and some of the other items. I used a white uniball on the waves on the front of the houses. I stamped the sentiment with Woodsy PSI again. I used some Party Pink Nuvo Drops around the background.
I just ordered a new 6x6" paper pad called Sunset on the Beach by Modascrap. I loved the colors in it. I used the blue cloud paper on the background of my A2 sized card. I then cut two other pieces of the paper for the sentiment area. I layered a lighter peach over a darker blush color of paper. I then embossed the "life's a beach" sentiment from the CZ Beachy Keen stamp set also from the Let's Chill release. I also bought a new color of Hero Arts embossing powder called Brick. I didn't know it would have these white spots in it when I bought it, but I was pleasantly surprised when I heated this one!
I stamped the images from the Beach Huts stamp set with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I drew lines on the houses to look like bricks. I die-cut them out with the matching dies. I arranged them over the top of the sentiment strips against the blue cloud paper. I used foam tape behind the fence. I used Nuvo Glitter Drops over some of the items. I added Party Pink and Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the background.
My second slimline card started with the same SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle die die-cut from white cardstock. I applied Seafoam Ink to the top and Latte Ink to the bottom with SSS Brushes. I stamped all of the images in the stamp set (some more than once) with MFT Natural Ink and colored them with colored pencils again. I used four of the water strips on the top of the card which is suppose to be the water. I attached all of the other items over the background again using foam tape behind the fences.
I stamped the "lets chill soon" sentiment from the stamp set with Intense Black Ink using a SSS Sentiment Label Die which I cut down. I applied Nuvo Glitter Drops over some of the items. I used Morning Dew Nuvo Drops over the window on the tallest house.
There are SO many cute cards under this product image on the SSS website: Beach Huts stamp and die set. I feel like most of my cards are very similar in how I used this stamp set, so when I looked at all these cards it made me realize I could have tried some other things with the stamp set! I love using a stamp set 5 ways though as it makes me really get my money's worth out of it! The Let's Chill release has a bunch of stamp sets I'm looking forward to using for my "one stamp, five ways" series. I hope you will come visit again soon! Suzy
