I illustrated "Suzy's Doodles" watercolor prints for Simon Says Stamp for about 4 or 5 years! I recently stopped since there have been over 50 sets produced now! If you aren't familiar with them, you can see all of my sets HERE in the SSS store. I think they have about 43 of the 50 or so sets still in their store. I just spent a week at my mom's house for her 90th birthday. I like to stay busy all the time, so I took some of my older watercolor cards with me to color. I also took my new Karin Decobrush Markers to try them out on these cards as I hadn't used them on them yet. FUN TIMES! I ended up with about 5 colored that I'll be sharing with you over the next few days.
Today I have one colored and made into a card from a set from September 2020 called Even More Birthday Watercolor Prints. I started with 12 individual designs per pack of 12. Then we switched to 6 designs with 3 prints of each, so 18 cards total. Then we switched to 6 designs with 2 of each, so back to 12 total. This pack was one of the few that came with 18 cards (better deal!). Here is an image of them:
They are printed on Ranger Watercolor Paper which is really thick and very white which I love. You can use any or all coloring mediums on them! I usually mix a few. Here is the card I made with the flower card on the bottom left. And if you want to see all of them colored, they are on a blog post HERE. And here is my card:
When I looked back at my blog post from September 2020 that has this same card colored on it, I realized that I colored it again in almost the exact same colors! No surprise since these are my favorite colors! I was really "drawn" to this whimsical bouquet (laughing because it is drawn - get it?). So first, I die-cut it with the second smallest die in the B2B Rectangle Dies from Mama Elephant that I just got as all of my old rectangle dies were worn out!
I then colored it in with my new Karin Decobrush Markers. I started with the Designer set of 36 from SSS. But then I liked them so much that I had to add the other 4 sets that are each 12 more. So now I have all of them and I can't stop using them. I guess as a new toy, they are getting lots of attention from me. They are basically an opaque paint in a brush (kind of like acrylic). I like trying to blend them on the images I paint. I use the white one in the Basic set on every thing I color to lighten and blend. I need to buy a couple new white ones! They are sold alone in some on-line stores. Once they were colored, I did add a little big of extra shading with colored pencils in the darkest areas. I then re-outlined the flowers with a fine tip black Micron marker so the lines were still dark. I used a white Unibal gel pen for some details.
I die-cut a sentiment from the Wedding set that was just recently released. I used the Honey Bee Sentiment Label dies as they fit the strips perfectly. You can see all of the SSS Sentiment Strips HERE in the SSS Store. I love these things as they make adding a sentiment to a card front like these watercolor cards so easy! I used foam tape behind it. I adding some Nuvo Glitter Gels over some of the areas. I used Pink Champagne Glitter Drops on the bow. I used Pink Orchid and Berry Blue around the flowers on the background.
That was a super fun and easy card to make. I hope you still enjoy any Suzy's Doodles you have or you can still buy most of the sets at SSS. And watch out, some day they may be a collector's item haha. Thanks so much for visiting today! suzy
