It's day ONE of a TWO day blog hop celebrating the latest Simon Says Stamp release called YAY YOU! I had so much fun with this release as I got a Glimmer hot foiling machine for Christmas and I hadn't used it much yet. So I pulled it out and went to town using all of the new foil plates in this release and there are a lot of good ones! I ended up using the new Intricate Floral Background Foil Plate on 4 of the 5 cards I made for the banner above, so I realized that I should probably do a "one stamp, five ways" post using it. It's not a stamp, so I'm kind of breaking my title rule, but I'm doing it anyway! I'll post my 5 cards that not only use the foil plate, but also a bunch of other products in the release. At the end of this post, I'll tell you all the blog hop details. Here goes!
CARD 1:
I think this is my favorite card today as I love all the color! I started by die-cutting a piece of white cardstock with the largest rectangle in the SSS Thin Frame Dies (which gives you a very small border if you throw away the frame!). I then used my new Glimmer Hot Foil System and Glimmer Hot Foil Mini Rainbow Stripe. I had purchased this rainbow foil a while back and I thought this was a great time to try it out with the Floral Background Foil Plate. I love love love how it turned out. I then colored all of the flowers in with Copic colors that matched that part of the rainbow in the foil. It is so easy to color over these foiled images as you can't easily color outside of the lines since they are embossed. I attached it to a white card base.
Next, I embossed the sentiment using the Happily A Lifetime stamp with Antique Gold embossing powder and die cut it out with the matching die. I attached that to the center of the card with foam tape underneath. I also foiled one of the butterflies from the new Dancing Butterflies Hot Foil Plates using pewter glimmer foil. I also colored that in with Copics to match. I used some Nuvo Yellow Bird Glitter Drops over the yellow areas. I attached that above the sentiment and added some sparkling clear sequins around it.
CARD 2:
Ohhh, maybe this is my favorite card! haha This time I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the second largest rectangle in the Mama Elephant B2B Rectangle dies (just got these and LOVE them). I then foiled it this time using Moondust glimmer foil which is a sparkly turquoise color. I colored it in with Copics again keeping it in teals, pinks, and purples. I attached it to a teal card base with foam tape behind it for depth.
I used the new Happily a Lifetime stamp and die set for the sentiment. I love this script so much! I used Ranger Garden Patina embossing powder for the large word. I stamped the smaller sentiments with Intense Black Ink on the smallest banner from the SSS Sentiment Label Dies. I attached "lifetime" with foam tape behind it and then attached the smaller sub-sentiments above and below it. I added some sparkling clear sequins.
CARD 3:
I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the SSS A2 Thin Frame die again. I then dry embossed the Floral Background Foil Plate by running it through my die-cut machine with no foil. A new discovery for me and I love it! I think if I had misted my paper with water and run it through the die-cut machine 3 times, I would have gotten a deeper impression. Learning!
I attached the embossed background to a teal card base. I foiled the Sketched Leafy Wreath foil plate with Teal foil and die-cut it out with the matching die. I colored it in with Copics again trying not to blend the colors too much as I like that look sometimes. I heat embossed another butterfly from the Dancing Butterfly Hot Foil plates using the same Pewter Glimmer Foil. I colored the butterfly with Copics as well and used two Nuvo Glitter Drops on it - Aquatic Mist and Sugar Plum. And as usual, I added some sparkling clear sequins around the wreath. I also used a few teal sequins from the new PiƱata Sequin Mix. I die-cut a sentiment from the new Yay You sentiment strips using the Honey Bee Sentiment Banners. I attached all to the front of the card with foam tape underneath.
CARD 4:
This time I embossed the Floral Background Foil Plate with Spellbinders Speckled Prism foil which is a white/silver/glimmer color that left a subtle silver look. It's so pretty in real life! I then foiled the new Sketched Peony Hot Foil Plate with Pink Glimmer Foil. I colored it in with Copics. I hot foiled the leaves from the Sketched Leaf Branches Hot Foil plate/die (from the Happy and Joyful release) using Viridian foil and colored them in with Copics.
I attached the background to a fuchsia card base. I added the flower and leaves tucking the leaves under the flower. I used two sentiments from the Reverse Wedding Sentiment Strips using the Honey Bee Sentiment Banners again (they are the perfect size for these preprinted sentiment strips). I attached both to the top of the card. Last, as usual, I added some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiments. The one sitting on the top of the sentiment was a mistake - it must have fallen on there when I put some in the background and I just noticed it haha.
CARD 5:
This time I used the Floral Background Foil Plate a little differently. I first hot foiled it with Teal Glimmer Foil. Then I took the leftover foil and I re-foiled it using the Pink Fresh Solid Hot Foil Plate. This plate allows you to use ALL the foil you have left from the negative space of any plates (no more wasting foil AND you get two prints out of one plate!). I recommend running it through the die-cut machine twice to make sure it all attaches. I love this technique and this solid plate!
I used the new Happily Ever After die from the new release. I first took a piece of the same teal foil and used the Pink Fresh Solid Hot Foil Plate to attach the foil to white cardstock. I then die-cut the letters from that piece so it matches the background. THIS SOLID PLATE WAS THE BEST DISCOVERY EVER!!! I die-cut another greeting from the same Reverse Wedding Sentiment Labels using the Honey Bee Banner dies. i attached it below the Happily Ever After die and of course finished with some sparkling clear sequins! haha
