I have another card to share today using the SSS Happy and Joyful release again - this time I used the "Just a Note Pansy" stamp and die set. Because it's the only flower I haven't used from the release yet! Here is an image of the set:
And here is my very straightforward (basic) card:
This card is all about the coloring. I stamped the pansy grouping on the top and the bottom of an A2 size piece of white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink (my no coloring ink color of choice!). I then colored the pansies in with colored pencils. I was trying to keep them as realistic as possible, but kind of messed up the look of the top reddish pink one. Oh well. I used a mixture of pencils as I usually do. I use Prismacolor the least as they are too waxy for me, Polychromos the most because they are very soft and work really well, Luminance a lot as they are the darkest most opaque coverage, and Pablos also by Caran d'ache a bit as they also work well. Together, the four sets just give me A LOT of color choices, and that's what I'm all about. And I think I use them enough to justify the price haha.
I die-cut this piece with the second largest rectangle in the Mama Elephant B2B Rectangle dies (I just got this set as my old rectangle dies were wearing out). I attached it to a purple card base. I embossed the "Just a Note" stamp in the stamp set with Ranger white embossing powder on the same color purple cardstock. I die-cut that out with the matching die that is in the stamp set.
I attached the "Just a Note" to the top of the center. I used two of the other stamps in the stamp set for the rest of the greeting. I embossed them with Ranger Tim Holtz Wilted Violet embossing glaze. I felt like it didn't match very well, so I tried to darken it with a color pencil. Still don't really like the color. Maybe I should have just gone with black ink instead of trying to match a purple. Or maybe I shouldn't be so picky haha. I added some Yellow Bird glitter drops to the yellow flowers and the centers of the pansies. I used some Crushed Grapes Nuvo Drops around the sentiment and some sparkling clear sequins.
This card took a bit of time to color as colored pencils are definitely the most time consuming coloring method. But i love to color, so it works for me! These pansies were really fun to work with in the Just A Note Pansy stamp and die set. Thanks so much for visiting and enjoy all of the inspiration in the Happy and Joyful Release - the gallery is full after a 2 day blog hop! Suzy
