Oh my! Today is the Simon Says Stamp Happy and Joyful release. Oh my is because there are LOTS OF FLOWERS in this release and they make my tail wag! I love coloring flowers, so deciding which stamp sets to use for my blog post was not easy! Today I'll be sharing one flower card and then I'll have another on the blog hop tomorrow and I will also have a "one stamp, five ways" post on the SSS blog in a few days all with flower stamps. Today my card uses the Lisianthus Stamp and Die set. Here is an image:
I'll be honest. I didn't know what a Lisianthus was! So I had to look it up to get an idea of what colors they come in. I saw several in a deep purple, so I went with that! The stamp set is sold alone HERE or is sold with a set of dies as shown above HERE.
I started by stamping the Lisianthus flower grouping on white cardstock with MFT Natural ink. I then colored the image in with my favorite new toy - Karin Decobrush Markers. They are basically acrylic paint in a brush pen, so they give you an opaque look. I have the box of 36 called the Designer set and I use it all the time (((great idea for a Mother's Day gift!))). You can use them on cardstock, but I prefer to use them on watercolor paper since they are wet. It is best to work on a small area at one time as the colors blend together best when they are wet. For the flower, I just used a dark purple and a white and blended them in the center of each petal. Then I used colored pencils to add some shading and texture to them. I used one dark purple pencil and added the lines you can see on each petal.
I die-cut the flower grouping out with the matching die. I then die-cut a white background using the new A2 Marquee Wafer Dies and white cardstock. I attached it to a purple cardstock card base. I then attached the flower grouping with foam tape behind it to the edge of the card base and cut off the extra part of the stamped image.
I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on the top and the bottom of the flowers using Ranger Tim Holtz Wilted Violet embossing glaze. It matched almost perfectly! I used some purple sequins from the new Blooming Lilacs sequin mix and some clear ones from the new Spring Showers sequin mix.
You can see the entire Happy and Joyful release HERE. Also make sure to visit the Happy and Joyful gallery to see all of the inspiration using the new products! And join us tomorrow and the next day for a 2 day blog hop (Wednesday and Thursday). Thanks so much for visiting! Suzy
Just Beautiful. Look as if was picked fresh from a garden.
