I made a very quick and simple card today. I used a product from the Simon Says Stamp Hello Gorgeous release that I had been wanting to try. It's called the Folk Art Flowers cling stamp and it's the first time they have released a stamp quite like this. Here is an image:
I gotta be honest. I don't think I used it right. I didn't remove the main stamp when I was inking the punched out flowers, so I had to wipe off excess ink I got on the leaves. I realized once you place the flowers back in the stamp, you can remove the outline portion and the flowers will be in the right place. Then inking them is much easier and you won't make a mess like I did! Thought I would tell you that since I did it the hard way haha. Here is my card:
I started with an A2 card size piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper. I often use this paper when I'm not doing a really intense watercolored image as I like that it is pure white. I stick to Arches or Fabriano when I am doing a floral watercolored image that has lots of details. I pulled out my Pawsitively Saturated Inks. As I have often said, these inks are the best. I am not an ink commercial, I just really love the colors and the way they are so saturated and are easy to apply. I also love that they come in 3 intensities of the same color so you can use them together to shade. That came in really handy for this card.
I first attached the full Folk Art Flowers cling stamp to the top of my watercolor paper and then I removed all of the flowers and dots which punch out. I then used the Ink Trio 13 for the leaves which are a lovely greenish teal color. I used the lightest color, Tidepool over the entire leaves. Then I re-stamped that to get it a little more covered. I then used the medium color, Tropic and applied it to the edges of each leaf and then rubbed the edge of the ink with my finger so it softened the area where it was shaded. I did the same in a smaller area with the third darkest color, Aegean. I then added the flowers back in and used the Ink Trio 12 for them. I applied the ink to each flower before placing it back into the stamp, but then when I added the two darker colors for shading I just used my finger to apply the ink. I got ink on my leaves. I should have removed that part of the stamp once the flowers were in place. Last, I added the dots in and used Sunbeam ink on them. After all the inks were applied, I spritzed it with a Ranger Mini Mister and water. I did this several times to get the colors to run a bit since they had already dried. I then soaked up the extra water with a paper towel so I didn't lose the shape of the images.
After it was dry, I die-cut it with a stitched rectangle and attached it to a fuchsia card base. I used the XL Spring Greetings Set for the sentiment. I embossed it with Tim Holtz Picked Raspberry Embossing Glaze. I finally have a perfect bright pink embossing powder - I've been searching for one for a long time! This one matched the inks perfectly. I attached it to the middle of the card with foam tape behind it so it had some dimension. I used yellow Nuvo Drops over the stamped dots. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment.
I made this card in about an hour and it was fun to do. I love quick cards and I'm realizing stamps that don't have to be colored are really quick to use! Too bad I love coloring so much! I hope you enjoyed this Folk Art Flowers cling stamp card and thanks so much for visiting. Have a happy Easter weekend friends! Suzy
