Last week, Simon Says Stamp released a new Limited Edition Mother's Day card kit called You Mean the World To Me. I posted a "one stamp, five ways" blog post using the kit and the 6x8 stamp set in it called Better With Mom. You can see that blog post HERE. Today I have ANOTHER "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the kit again and I also used the stamp set on all 5 of these cards - so 10 cards total with the kit and the stamp set in it! Wow, that's a lot. And honestly, i could make more. I really really really enjoyed this kit and the beautiful papers in it. Here is an image of the kit if you haven't seen it:
It has a set of Suzy's Watercolor Cards in it called Birthday Flowers. There are 6 images printed on Ranger Watercolor Paper and they are sold in a 6 pack this time for $4.99 which is pretty amazing! I've used all 6 of these designs in my post the other day and this one, so you can see them all colored. The good news is this kit is still available. There aren't a lot left (and I don't say that to pressure you), rather I just want you to know that in case you want to grab it! Here are my next 5 cards!
CARD 1:
I started by using one of the Paige Evans Splendid papers in the kit by cutting it to fit on the front of a white card base. The papers are all 4x6, so they fit perfectly if you just trim some off. I then cut around the flowers on one of the Birthday Flowers watercolor cards. I then painted it with Daniel Smith watercolors. I used colored pencils for the small flowers and to shade some of the others. I can't resist using them over every coloring medium! I used a white Uniball gel pen to fix all the areas where I messed up (and there are a lot! haha).
I attached the floral piece to the card front with foam tape behind it. I embossed a sentiment from the Better With Mom stamp set on white cardstock with Tim Holtz Wilted Violet Embossing Glaze (love this color and I keep using it!). I attached that to the bottom of the card. I used some Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops and some Crushed Grapes Nuvo Drops around the sentiment and card front. I used Sugar Plum glitter drops in the center of the blue flower and around the flowers.
CARD 2:
I used two of the patterned papers for the front of this card. I tell ya, every single one of those papers is perfect for a card front and like I said, they fit perfectly leaving a nice white border around them. I like using two different designs on one like I did here. I then cut around another one of the Birthday Flowers watercolor cards. This time I colored the flowers in with my new Karin Decobrush Markers. They are like acrylic paint (so opaque) in a brush tip pen. YUMMINESS GALORE! I bought myself the 36 pen Designer Set, but there are 4 more sets of 12 available that I really want. The colors mix so well (when they are still wet) and they are really fun to use as something different. They work best on watercolor paper although I have used them on Neenah 110 lb. cardstock with not much problem.
I cut the bottom off the flowers and attached them over the left side of the card. I had cut that paper to fit below them perfectly. The striped paper on the right side was the right size for this sentiment from the Better With Mom stamp set. This sentiment and others in the set don't need to be used just on Mother's Day cards. In fact, I think only a couple of my 10 are for mother's! I embossed it with white embossing powder. I stamped a butterfly from the stamp set with Intense Black Ink and colored it in with the same markers. Then I used Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops over the spots I added to the butterfly and around the sentiment. I used a white Uniball in the center of the flowers.
CARD 3:
I die-cut a frame using the MFT A2 Frame dies from the gold matte cardstock in the kit. I do this so the edges look nice and so I can save the inside of the frame to use on something else. I attached that to a card front. I then added one of the papers over it cut down to fit. I cut out another one of the Birthday Flowers watercolor cards. I like cutting them out so I can use them over the pretty papers in the kit! I colored this one with the Decobrush Markers again. I also used pencils to shade.
I attached it to the front of the card. I stamped a butterfly from the Better With Mom stamp set with black ink and colored it in with the same markers. I used Nuvo Glitter Drops over it. I also used Glitter Drops over the center of each flower. I embossed the "love you" sentiment in the stamp set on vellum with black embossing powder. I cut around it and attached it over the pot. I added some Black Board Nuvo drops around it.
CARD 4:
I cut one of the papers down and attached it to a black card base. I think this floral pattern was my favorite paper in the set. I cut around the edges of my last Birthday Flowers watercolor cards. This time I painted it with Daniel Smith watercolors. I added some shading with colored pencils and used a white Uniball on the flowers.
I attached it to the front of the card with foam tape behind it. I stamped the "love you" sentiment on white cardstock with black ink and then embossed over it with clear embossing powder. This works better to get a crisp black image than using black embossing powder. I had to for the last card though as black ink doesn't work very well on vellum, but the black embossing powder did. I cut around it and attached it to the center of the flowers. I used two of the black word stickers in the kit and attached them below it. No Nuvo drops on this one. I resisted the urge haha.
CARD 5:
I attached two pieces of the patterned papers in the kits to the front of a white card base. I purposely sized them the way they are to fit what I put on top of them. I die-cut the "You Mean The World to Me" Die from white cardstock and from gold cardstock. The die and the gold cardstock are also in the kit. I glued the gold over the white and attached that with foam tape behind it to the right side of the card front.
I embossed the floral grouping from the Better With Mom stamp set with Antique Gold embossing powder. I also embossed the little bee. I cut around the edges and colored them with colored pencils. I used a white Prismacolor pencil over the colors to keep them really soft. The waxiness of the white Prismacolor blends the colors really well too. I attached that to the left side of the card with foam tape. I added the little bee on the top right. I used Mustard Gold Nuvo drops in the centers of all of the flowers.
That's it! Ten cards with one Limited Edition You Mean the World to Me card kit! And like I said, I still have a lot of supplies left I could make a bunch more. Especially the Paige Evans papers - so many in the kit. I love when a kit contains a variety of things like the 2 dies and the butterfly stencil and the watercolor cards. There was just so much to use! Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoyed this inspiration with the kit! Suzy
