Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the SSS May 2022 Card Kit called BRUSHED FLOWERS. This kit comes with a 6x8" stamp set also called Brushed Flowers. It is full of flat floral stamps, which work wonderfully with the new Pawsitively Saturated Inks. Speaking of these inks, the kit comes with a set of four mini inks and a brand new SSS Ink Cube Holder! Here is an image of the kit:
The Brushes Flowers stamp set is sold alone or with a set of matching dies as a set. Here is an image of the set:
And here are my five cards:
CARD 1:
I loved these three papers together from the Prima Marketing Painted Floral paper pad, so I just created a card design that could use all three! I cut each into 1/3 of the card size and then die-cut them with a stitched rectangle die. I die-cut some Gold Matte Cardstock with the MFT A2 Frame die to use behind the papers. I like using this die so you get the nice rounded edges and so the inside is saved and you don't waste paper! I attached the patterned papers over the gold frame.
I stamped the oval greeting on white cardstock with SSS Steel Navy embossing powder. I cut around this piece and attached it to the center of the card with foam tape behind it. I then stamped several of the leaves and flowers with Pawsitively Saturated Inks using a lighter color first and then a darker color just on the edges. I used my finger to blend the second ink on the edges. I also embossed some of the leaf stamps with SSS Antique Gold embossing powder. I cut them all out (yes, dies would be nice haha) and tucked them under the sentiment surrounding it. I added some Honeybee Back to Basics Gems in gold in the center of the flowers and around the background.
CARD 2:
I die-cut a piece of Ranger white watercolor paper with the largest rectangle in the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle dies. I then pulled out my Distress Inks and stamped all of the images in the stamp set with different colors of purples, pinks, and aquas. After I stamped each one, I spritzed it with a Ranger Mini Mister. I wiped a little of the ink off. I created a really blurry background. Then I went back and rest amped some of the images over it without using water so they would look crisp. I added centers to all of the flowers also. I really wasn't sure what I was doing so this just kind of developed as I went!
I attached it to a fuchsia card base and then embossed a sentiment from the stamp set with white embossing powder on a stitched rectangle. I matted it on a turquoise cardstock and attached it to the bottom of the card with foam tape beneath it. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment. I cut one of the butterflies out of one of the papers and colored him to match with colored pencils. I used glossy accents over the wings. I then glued just the center to the card so I could bend the wings up.
CARD 3:
For this card, I used the new mini Pawsitively Saturated Inks in the kit. I stamped each image with a different color in a random pattern on the card front. After stamping each image, I embossed over it with the clear embossing powder that came with the kit. Using clear embossing powder over ink gives you really any color of embossing powder you want! I love how it added sheen to all of these stamped images.
I embossed sentiments from the stamp set on a rectangle using white embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom of the card with foam tape beneath it. I used some sparkling clear sequins around it/on it. I used Vintage Bohemian Teal Nuvo Drops between the stamped images on the card.
CARD 4:
I die-cut a rectangle from black cardstock using the SSS Mini Slimline Rectangle Dies. I then stamped a grouping of the flowers and leaves on the top and bottom of this piece with Hero Arts Unicorn white ink. I let it dry and then colored over the inked images with colored pencils. I find Luminance by Caran d'ache work best over dark cardstock, but any colored pencils will do a good job. I used a white Uniball to add lines to all of the images so they stood out more. I mounted it on a white card base to bring out the white.
I embossed a sentiment in the center with white embossing powder. I added some Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the sentiment. I also added some sparkling clear sequins to give this one layer card some depth. Then I decided to add another butterfly as it still felt kind of flat. I cut it out of the patterned paper and added color to match the card with colored pencils. I used Glossy Accents over it and glued it down just in the center so the wings could fold up.
CARD 5:
I die-cut this black and white paper from the Prima Painted Floral papers in the kit with the SSS A2 Thin Frame die so it was just a bit smaller than an A2 card. I mounted it on a turquoise card base. I stamped a few of the stamps using Pawsitively Saturated Inks. I stamped them with the lightest color in the 3 color family and then used the second darkest color on just part of the stamp (smudging with my finger again). Then I used some of the darkest color in the center and edges of the stamp. I embossed over all of the images again with clear embossing powder. I then cut around them and attached them to the front of the card with foam tape beneath them.
I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set with white embossing powder on matching turquoise cardstock. I tucked that under the top of the flowers. I added some sparkling clear sequins. I also used some Vintage Bohemian Teal Nuvo Drops around the sentiment.
That's it! One slimline, one mini-slimline, and three A2 size cards today. I love using flat stamps because they are out of my comfort zone since I love to color and always gravitate to stamps I can color. It makes me think and it's fun doing something different. I think they look so pretty with the bright colors of the Pawsitively Saturated Inks. I hope you like this May Card Kit called BRUSHED FLOWERS as much as I do! If you just like the stamp set, you can purchase that alone and thank goodness there is a matching set of dies so also as a bundle. Thanks for visiting! xoxo Suzy
