A couple weeks ago, SSS announced a collaboration between Brutus Monroe and Gina K Designs. This included a gorgeous stamp set called Seeds of Joy and a beautiful purple embossing powder called Wisteria Lane. There is quite a bit of inspiration on both of these products in the SSS store (just click on the item names). There is also some inspiration on the SSS blog on this blog post. That's where this card comes in. I made it for the SSS blog, but I wanted to post it here as well. Here are the two product images:
Here is my card:
When I was asked to use these two products together, I thought the "obvious" way would be to emboss the floral stamps with the Wisteria Lane embossing powder. So I didn't want to do that. Thus I had to think of some other way to use the embossing powder. I tried something I've never done before and it worked so well! I rubbed an embossing stamp pad on my card base here and there and then I poured the embossing powder over it. I removed a little here and there with my finger so the edges were messy. I embossed it and is it the most beautiful purple color! I will be using this powder a lot as I seem to be making a lot of purple cards lately!
I die-cut this piece down and attached it to a white card base. I then stamped the beautiful floral stamp from the Seed of Joy stamp set on white cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I colored it in with my new favorite toy (bye bye colored pencils haha) Karin Decobrush Markers. I used just 3 colors - light purple, dark purple and white for the flowers. I had the 36 color Designer Set that includes the Basic, Passion, and Violet Blue sets of 12. I love these markers so much that I ordered the other 4 sets of 12 for myself for Mother's Day, so now I have all of them. Watch out!
I die-cut the flowers out and attached them to the card front with foam tape behind them. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on a banner from the SSS Sentiment Label Dies using the Wisteria Lane embossing powder. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment.
I'm so glad I was given this challenge to use these two products together as it made me think out of the box and come up with something new (for me). I'll have to make more card backgrounds with my ever growing embossing collection! I really love all Gina K floral stamps, but this Seeds of Joy stamp set is definitely a favorite! Thanks so much for visiting today! Suzy
