Exciting news for card makers - Simon Says Stamp is releasing a second Limited Edition kit today called Joys of Spring. This one is not an Easter kit, but rather a general kit for Spring. Here is an image of the kit:
I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you today using the 6"x8" stamp set in the kit also called Joys of Spring and sold alone or with a matching set of dies as a set. I also use many of the other items in the kit. Here is an image of the set:
There is also a 4"x6" stamp in the kit called Gnome Matter What. I made a slimline card with this stamp set that I have posted on another blog post HERE. That card ONLY uses the stamp set and no other items in the kit, so I wanted to post it on a separate post. I love that cute stamp set too though! The only product in the kit I didn't get a chance to use is the Pocket Gnome die, so I'll have to use that on another card soon!
Here are my 5 cards focusing on the Joys of Spring stamp set, but using almost all of the items in the kit!
CARD 1:
I made this card using some of the Happy Flowers gorgeous patterned papers in the kit. I started by die-cutting two of the papers with the largest rectangle in the SSS MiniSlimline Rectangle Dies. I attached the yellow design one to an ivory cardstock base from the kit. I then cut the green paper down and attached it to just the bottom third of the card. I then cut a little strip of the black dotted paper and put it between the other two.
I stamped the daffodil floral grouping on white cardstock with Intense Black Ink and colored them in with Copics. I then added shading with colored pencils. I used a white Uniball gel pen around the centers of the flowers. I cut around the flowers as I didn't have the matching dies. I tucked the bottom under the black strip of paper and then used foam tape under the top of the flowers for depth. I then embossed the "happy birthday" stamp with SSS Cream embossing powder. I tied a piece of twine around the black paper and added one of the butterflies in the kit to the top right.
CARD 2:
This card again focuses on the cute Happy Flowers papers in the kit. I cut strips of several of the papers and layered them together. I then die-cut them with a rectangle die and mounted them on a cream cardstock base. I stamped several of the images in the Joys of Spring stamp set on white cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I again colored them with Copic Markers and then I add shading with colored pencils. Even when I use Copics, I end up using my pencils as well! I used a white Uniball for details.
I attached the bird house to the left side of the card. I then attached the two butterflies that I colored and one of the butterflies in the kit on the top right side of the card. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on a banner from the SSS Word Mix 2 die set using Rustic Wilderness Embossing Glaze. I attached that to the bottom right side of the card. I used several colors of Nuvo drops on the card. I used Honey Gold glitter drops on the gold part of the butterflies. I used Copper Penny and Bottle Green drops around the background of the card.
CARD 3:
This card uses almost all of the products in the kit! Again, I used a lot of the Happy Flowers patterned papers. I took the index with the papers and cut it down just a tad so I could mount it on a 5" x 7" card base. Again I used cream cardstock as it went best with the papers. I loved that the index had small squares of all of the papers in the kit. I then attached a large butterfly in the kit to a piece of white cardstock and cut around the edges (I should have used cream cardstock!). I attached that to the center of the papers with foam tape behind it.
I stamped two of the same butterfly with MFT natural ink from the Joys of Spring stamp set. I colored them in with colored pencils matching the papers. I attached one to the top right and one to the bottom left of the large butterfly also using foam tape behind them. I applied Honey Gold glitter drops over all of the yellow areas of the large transparency butterfly. I added them to the small colored butterflies as well on the yellow areas. I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set with Intense Black Ink. I added a piece of the fabric tape in the kit to the top left and bottom right of the card. I used one of the chipboard stickers to the bottom left also with butterflies on it. I used some Black Board and Mustard Gold Nuvo Drops around the card background.
CARD 4:
This card and the next one focus on just the Joys of Spring stamp set and don't use the papers in the kit, so they are a different color palette. I die-cut a piece of pink Lawn Fawn patterned paper I had in my stash (called Spiffy Speckles 6x6 pad) with a large Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die. I then die-cut a SSS Nested Oval Die from the center of it and attached it to a white cardstock base. I rubbed some SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Carnation over the paper with a SSS Brush.
I stamped the water bucket of tulips from the Joys of Spring stamp set on a piece of white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and I colored it in with colored pencils. I cut around it and attached it to the top center of the oval with foam tape behind it. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on the bottom of the oval with Pink Peony embossing powder (my most used color!). I added some Nuvo Dream drops in Love Potion and Cloud 9. I added two of the burlap butterflies, but I applied Pink Champagne glitter drops to the top of them with my finger to match the card. First I rubbed them with the same Carnation Ink I used on the card, but it didn't color them as much as I wanted. That's when I added some Nuvo Drops over the top of them and they ended up quite pink!
CARD 5:
I had this piece of orange paper in my stash, so I pulled it out and die-cut a SSS Stitched Circle Die out of the top center. I mounted it on a white cardstock card base. I stamped the daffodil stamp and the butterfly shown on it's side with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I colored them in with colored pencils. I then outlined them with a fine tip black Micron pen (.05) as I decided I wanted them to have outlines. I fussy cut them out (would have loved to have those matching dies haha).
I attached the flowers by tucking the bottom under the circle and using foam tape behind the top. I then stamped the sentiment from the same Joys of Spring stamp set on a white banner from the SSS Word Mix 2 again. I used foam tape beneath that as well and attached it to the bottom of the card. I attached the butterfly on the right of the banner. I used some Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the sentiment. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the flowers.
That's It! Keep in mind that this Joys of Spring card kit is not part of their regular monthly card kits, but is a Limited Edition kit, so it will not be restocked. Supplies typically run out quickly. My other blog post using the Gnome Matter What stamp set is on a blog post HERE. Thanks so much for visiting and have a great weekend friends! Suzy
Suzy, your cards always make me think of spring and summertime. So bright and happy.
