I was so excited to receive a Limited Edition Easter card kit called "Easter Joy" from Simon Says Stamp. As I've previously mentioned, Spring and Easter are my favorite holiday to make cards for. I love the colors and the images for this season. I liked this kit and the stamp set in the kit so much that I ended up making 10 cards with it! So I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you today and another "one kit, five ways" post to share with you tomorrow. All of my cards today use the Easter Joy stamp set, but also many other products in the kit. Tomorrow I have 2 of my 5 cards that didn't use the stamp at all, thus the name change (one KIT, five ways). Here is an image of the kit:
The Easter Joy 6x8 stamp set has a matching set of Easter Joy dies and is also sold as a bundle. Here is an image of the bundle:
And here are my first five cards. Make sure to come back tomorrow to see another 5!
CARD 1:
My first card is a slimline design so I could show off all of those cute images in the stamp set. I used two of the Echo Park My Favorite Easter papers in the kit that both had plaid designs. I overlapped two pieces of both colors by making the seams "seamless" where the pattern was changing. You have to look pretty hard to see they are joined. Now you are all going to be looking haha. I just through those plaid designs were too cute not to use on this card, so I made them fit! I glued the papers to a white slimline cardstock base.
I stamped the Easter Joy images on white cardstock with MFT Natural ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I ended up adding outlines with a .05 Micron pen as I thought they would stand out better with outlines. I used 4 of the little chicks (he/she is so cute I had to!) and four of the tulip groupings. I added some of the little single flowers and leaves between them to fill in spaces. I used foam tape behind most of the images so they would stand out more. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set with Pink Peony embossing powder on a SSS Sentiment Label die and attached that to the top of the card. I used Yellow Bird glitter Nuvo drops on the centers of the flowers and Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the background.
CARD 2:
This card focuses on the gorgeous Easter papers in the kit by Echo Park called My Favorite Easter. I first attached the floral paper to a light yellow card base. I then cut out the "hello bunny" design from another one of the papers. I used colored pencils to outline and add shading to the design so it stood out more against the pink paper. I stamped the "sending joyful easter wishes" in Intense Black Ink on the top.
I attached foam tape to the backside of this piece before attaching it so it stood out from the busy floral background. I added Black Board Nuvo drops around the card front to match the black lettering. I used Rose Water jewel drops over the bunny nose. I used Aquatic Mist glitter drops over the bow.
CARD 3:
This card was a bit time consuming, but I love it, so it was worth it. First off, this Large Easter Basket die set is so darn cute. I used an N2 Copic marker and a gray colored pencil to add shading to it where the little lines were in the die. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set with Pink Peony embossing powder on the center of the basket. I stamped a flower and colored it with colored pencils and attached it to the top middle of the basket. Now for those eggs....
I wanted to use the Layering Eggs stencil in the card kit for a card. My first attempt got a bit messed up, so I used the eggs from the stencil on this card. My second attempt worked out beautifully because I learned from my mistakes and I'll share that card tomorrow. I used Pawsitively Saturated Inks with the stencil to make all of these colorful eggs. I didn't attach the stencils with Pixie Spray, so some of the ink colors seeped under the stencil. I also got ink on the background. So rather than waste all my effort, I just cut the eggs out. I also added the Ranger Icicle Crackle Paste in the kit over the top of the stencil so the eggs were easy to cut out along the puffy edges. I attached a plaid piece of the patterned paper in the kit to the background. I used foam tape behind the center of the basket and then glued the edges down. I inserted all of the eggs into the basket using foam tape behind the tops of them. I added the little chick over the eggs which I colored with Copics. I glued some Lawn Fawn Lemon Cord to the basket tying a bow at the top and then swirling it and glueing just little areas down.
CARD 4:
I stamped the cute floral egg design with MFT Natural Ink in the center of a piece of A2 card size white cardstock. I colored it in with colored pencils and didn't outline the design this time! I die-cut the outside edges of this piece with the Lawn Fawn Just Double Stitching dies. I attached this piece to a pink card base.
I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set on the bottom of this piece using Pink Peony embossing powder once again. I have quite a few pink embossing powders, but this one always seems to match my pencils the best! I used some Sherbet Shimmer glitter drops over the small circles on the stamp design and over the spots on the eggs. I used Aquatic Mist glitter drops over the swirl on the other egg. I used Yellow Bird glitter drops in the center of the flowers. I added some Chalk Stick white drops in between all of the flowers on the egg.
CARD 5:
I stamped the flower wreath design from the stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink as well as a few of the individual flowers and leaves. I colored them all in with colored pencils and then outlined them with a fine tip black marker. I cut around the wreath design and cut all of the small flowers out as I didn't have the matching dies.
I used a piece of the paper in the kit for the background of the card. I used the same Lawn Fawn Just Double Stitching die on the outside edge of the paper. I attached the wreath to the top of the card. I then attached all of the individual flowers and leaves around the wreath with foam tape behind them to add depth and texture to the wreath. I used Nuvo Glitter drops in the center of the flowers and on the small dots in the design. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set with Forget-Me-Not embossing powder on a white MFT banner. I attached that to the bottom of the card and used Pink Orchid Nuvo drops on each side of the greeting and around the wreath.
That's it for today's "one stamp, five ways" post using the new SSS Limited Edition Easter Joy kit! Don't forget to come back tomorrow to see five more cards using this kit. And if you are interested, make sure to act quickly as these limited edition kits go quickly. You can also buy just the Easter Joy stamp set by itself, which I highly recommend if you don't get the kit because it is one of my all time favorites! That's the main reason I ended up making 10 cards with this kit! Thanks for visiting today! Suzy
