I have been really dabbling in the daffodils since the SSS Good Luck Charm release came out. I created a "one stamp, five ways" post using the new Spring Stems stamp set that will be on the SSS blog in a few days. And I created a card with the Daffodil Field Cling stamp that I posted when the release became live. And now I have a card to share using the new Off the Edge Daffodils Stencil. Here is an image of the stencil which I mixed with the Beautiful Friend greeting stamp set also shown below:
Here is my card:
I first used the stencil with SSS Brushes and Pawsitively Saturated Inks. I used the smaller brushes and tried to keep the colors within each of the areas for the leaves, flowers, and background. I used Carnation Pink for the background, Lemonade for the flowers, Cantaloupe for the top of the flowers, and Aspen for the leaves. Unfortunately, the ink colors didn't stay where they were suppose to be. I guess I wasn't very good at applying the ink!
To fix it, I first tried applying some Copic markers over the colors. I loved how the markers added shading. But I couldn't cover up the green ink on the flowers! So next, I tried some colored pencils and I was able to make it look good (I think!). I used a white Prismacolor to soften the background a bit. I used a white Unibal gel pen to add dots around the tops of the flowers.
I used the new Beautiful Friend stamp set for the greeting because I love the font in this set and the size of the greetings. I embossed one on a banner with Pink Peony embossing powder. I attached a white banner over a yellow banner with foam tape between them. I added some sparkling clear sequins and jewels by PPP and some white gems from the Honeybee Gems set.
I might have gone a different direction than I planned with this Off The Edge Daffodil stencil, but I do like how it turned out. Next time, I'll just be a little more practiced at keeping my ink colors where they belong (or use some tape to block off areas!). I hope you like daffodils as much as I do as I have another daffodil card coming tomorrow! Thanks so much for visiting today! Suzy
