Today is the Simon Says Stamp Good Luck Charm release yippeeee! And tomorrow starts a 2 day blog hop celebrating this release, so make sure to visit my blog on Friday, February 19th! I have a card to share with you using two stamp sets from the new release: Daffodil Fields Cling Stamp and the Spring Stems stamp set. Here is an image of these two stamps:
I bought myself a really cool gift for my birthday Feb. 5th. I bought a set of the new Karin Decobrush markers. There are 7 different sets of 12 and SSS carries all 7 (although some are currently out of stock). Then there is a set called the Designer Set that has 3 of the most useful of those 7 sets in it - so 36 total markers. I bought that one although I would love to some day have all of the colors! They are acrylic or opaque markers. So having just received them, I decided to try them out with the new Daffodil Fields cling stamp.
I stamped it on an A2 size of cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I colored it with just four colors of the markers - black for the background, yellow for the flowers, then I added shading with the brown and white. They were really fun to use although I think they would work better on watercolor paper maybe. I'll have to research that. I definitely need practice though!
I had to re-outline the flowers with a black fine tip pen after I painted them because the paints covered some of my lines. It looked WAY better after doing this step. I stamped a sentiment from the new Spring Stems stamp set with black ink on a small stitched rectangle. I added some little jewels from a set by Honeybee Stamps called Back to Basics Gem Stickers. I used some of the clear ones on the flowers and the white and black ones around the sentiment.
If you want to see all the inspiration from the Good Luck Charm release, go to the SSS gallery on their blog and it will all be in one place. You can also use the hashtag #sssgoodluckcharm on Instagram to see it all. Also, come join in our two day blog hop celebrating the release where there will be $25 gift certificates to the SSS store given away on each stop of the hop. See you soon! Suzy
