Two days ago SSS released their Good Luck Charm release. Yesterday I shared a "one stamp, five ways" post using the Printmaking Plants stamp set for the 2 day blog hop - you can see that post here. Today I have another card to share using two more of the new products. This one uses the Balloon Background and the Basic Box Card Happy Birthday Die. Here are images of the two dies:
And here is my card:
I started by die-cutting the Balloon Background wafer die twice from white cardstock. I used a metal shim on one of them so I got a cleaner cut. I glued the first one down that wasn't cut with the shim (so the pieces stayed together better) to the front of a light blue card base. I then glued the second outline over the first. This gave it more dimension.
I then did the fun part - I inked all of the balloons with the SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks which I'm in love with! The colors are sooooo much fun! And they released a new set called Gradient 3 in the Good Luck Charm release with lots of pinks/corals/reds/greens. I used a mix of 5 color families for the balloons. I used the lightest color in the family first on the entire balloon applied with the larger SSS brushes. I then used the middle color just on the base of the balloon for shading applied with the smaller brushes. If i got too much ink on it, I just applied some more of the lighter color over it. I used the Trio 1 set with aquas, the Trio 2 set with light greens, the Trio 3 set with yellows, the Trio 5 set with corals, and the Trio 6 set with pinks. After they were all inked, I glued the balloons inside the white borders on the front of the card.
I then applied a layer of Tonic Crystal Glaze over each of the balloons to give them sheen - I wish you could see this in the picture. This Glaze is like Glossy Accents, but I think even better. I then die-cut the Basic Box Card Happy Birthday die from white cardstock without the metal shim so it stayed together well. I used foam tape behind it and attached it over the balloons. I then painted a piece of watercolor paper with Solar Flare Nuvo Shimmer Powder. I die-cut that with the same die and attached the letters over the white ones on the card. I used the same Tonic Crystal Glaze over the letters so they also have a shiny finish. I added some Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the balloons (and on them!).
This was such a fun card to make and I who ever has enough birthday cards! These two products will definitely come in handy. I love all of the products in this new Good Luck Charm release, but especially the new Gradient 3 inks! What is your favorite product in the release? Thanks for visiting and I hope you are taking part in the 2 day blog hop with $25 gift certificate prizes on each stop of the hop! Suzy
